THank you all for your lovely comments, what is it being a gardner you are never quite satisfied with your own garden, for me it is having a small garden and wanting more, I cram in plants together until there is just not enough soil to go around! just love to see everything growing in profusion, just have to take stock and think how lucky I am to have a patch in which to grow natures wonderful bounty and enjoy !

I know it's Autumn when the wind blows the leaves around and then you try to sweep them up and only get half of them on the shovel.

lol I have just experienced a taste of this this afternoon;0)

Autumn leaves fall to the floor
carpeting the ground once more
Trees are shedding nature's seed
for the squirrels winter feed.
Birds are busy eating berries
coloured like the summer cherries.
Diamond frosts will soon be here
with a taste of Christmas cheer.
But think of others on this Earth
that have no harvest, have no worth
Help them with an open heart
have compassion, be a part
of sharing in this lovely place
Our mother Earth, in deepest space.

Hi Pansypotter, i would love to try my hand at growin from seed for next year so i might call on you for advise if thts ok!! :) ive got a pack of sweet peas and ive taken seeds from my mum's wallflowers and my lavender, although ive read tht lavender is very tricky to grow from seed, but wud like the challenge! lol :)
12 Oct, 2010
Kermy if the lavender seeds don't grow try taking some cuttings next July. Sweet peas are usually quite easy in germinating. I usuall grow 4 - 5 per pot. I have always planted my wallflower seeds (from a packet and not the plant) into the soil outside in a row then when big enough separate them out into the flowerbeds. The main thing is just to have a go and good luck.

Lovely poem Linda you are very creative;0)
Kemy its good to hear you are up for a challenge growing from seed does give so much more satisfaction as you watch them sprout and blossom into sturdy plants, I think the advice linda has given you is very valuable, timing and the right conditions also play a big part in success rates, wish you lots of luck and enjoyment if you need any specific help dont hesitate to ask, one thing about the this site everyone is very helpful and supportive;0)

If you want any more seeds Kermy, just ask, I'm terrible for collecting seeds from the garden, have loads :-))
12 Oct, 2010
That's not terrible Kathy, that is good, money saver you are. I never seem to get around to the collecting, much prefer to do the spending. LOL. Don't tell Rob you know what chinese whispers is like, wouldn't want Paul finding out lol.

Lol Barbara my lips are sealed, Rob tells me off for using all the ink in the printer printing seed packets, lol, used to swap a lot on a swapshop and just can't stop doing it, handy though if anything dies always have seed to grow more and for giving away to and swapping with friends on here, so if theres anything you fancy just ask :-)

Kathy just to let you know that the Salvia Piemont seeds are sprouting already;0))
