OK Louise, but I dont think I would have the knowledge to care for your gorgeous plants.

Do you live in a stately home Dawn? These sorroundings give me that Impression....beautiful. just beautiful, you lucky person you...

Lol Freesiaperson, no unfortunately not. Your words are very kind, thank you. We've done lots of work on the pond but its worth it in the end. Wish I could put more time into it.

I know how much hard work has gone into this Dawn ,it's a credit to you ,I love the relections in the water ... ....

Wow, it looks amazing Dawn...how I would love a pond like yours, it's beautiful! Just a walk round here each morning would be like a holiday!

this is a beautiful photo and shows your pond off to perfection.

I was certain you would "come clean" Dawn and say this was at a stately home! You must have had a big project on to construct such a huge pond....in Canada that would be a swimming hole (fun for kids in summer....it's a compliment).
Can I ask....we have dogwood trees in B.C. but they look nothing like the ones in your photos. It is the provincial flower for British Columbia. We had two glorious huge dogwood trees in our front garden. Perhaps there is more than one variety?

Thank you all for your kind words.
Hi Whistonlass - maybe the others on here know but I'm only familar with the shrubby dog wood (Cornus), these grow to around 10 feet high by about 4 feet wide and have lots vertical stems. Your dogwood trees sound lovely.
Oh Kathy, to the left of this picture I still have some bare earth with grass seed just coming through, most of the banks are still quite earthy too so maybe next Summer when the plants have had time to establish I may do a blog on the pond maintenance job.

This link shows a photo of the type of dogwood tree that is found in my home province of British Columbia...it is also the provincial flower.

It's common name is Japanese Flowering Dogwood.

Such beautiful flowers, thanks for showing me. Mine have nice white berries at the moment.

It was interesting to look up the dogwood as I had never realized how many different varieties there were, nor that they grew in shrub and tree form...so a good lesson all around, Dawn. Your gardens are most spectacular too!

Thanks Dotty/Carol, it as big again to the left hand side. The frosts got my gunnera's :-( Brown now not green.
21 Oct, 2010
I was looking at your Gunnera, and thinking how lovely, ours is still fairly small, what a shame......
21 Oct, 2010
Nevermind Dotty, at least I've got the crowns covered now to protect against the frost. We found that after about 3 years, our gunneras got quite big. Have your's had flower spikes yet?
21 Oct, 2010
fantastic Dawn, i could sit there all day just watching ;o))
