We had to take this out to make room for the garden room, was sad to see it go, we have since learned that we could have dug it up and put it elsewhere.....chance would have been a fine thing....it weighted a ton, could hardly lift it off the ground, but, it had small roots!!
Have planted another one, hoping it will grow as fast as this one did.

What a shame , I hope your replacement does as well Dd , I'm sure having a garden room to use all the year round will more than make up for it ... :o)

Lovely big specimen. You are a brave lady DD2, because I couldn't dig out such a great plant..... Hope you have the same luck with your replacement :-)

we saw a program on palms and cati being moved in america, a garden company which sold them and replanted in gardens, hard work but amazing how they settle,

Dottydaisy2:
Most palms move very easily. The root can be easily cut and most will regenerate pretty quickly. They can be very heavy though. (I once moved a 13ft/4 meters tall Chamaerops humilis with 3 other guys -- it weighed a ton!)
How old was this palm? Here this palm usually takes about 5 years to grow this tall from a gallon size.
