How wonderful Tetra, for this time of year! I have just noticed my Berginia is in full flower! Strange.

Lovely display Terarch, looking at this you'd think it was still summer :-)

What a wide choice of blooms you have there, M. Better than anything a florist could deliver....and so very pretty :)

I thought Bergies bloomed in spring Gmage???
I know Simbad, I said the same thing! Hi J, yes the garden has been my florist all summer long, but never thought it would provide in November!

Better than fireworks any day :o)))

Tell me about it TT..this is one night of the year Im glad I no longer have a dog.

Trouble is, fireworks continue to explode for many evenings .... we'll hear them tonight .. and Saturday and Sunday ... and then the unsold fireworks be sold off cheaply by the shops ... to be let off in coming weeks ...when we least expect to hear them !

An excellent display.......all looking so fresh, quite amazing.

Wont be long Gee, another 4 months...thanks Daisy..thats what you call a reward for all the care hey?

Dont start me off TT, very emotive subject..3 nights a year..strict! Nov 5th Christmas Eve and New year! Illegal apart from private functions that need an expensive licence!!

M Very nice, a good subject for you to paint!
Re the fireworks i must be lucky with Jamie he takes no notice of them at all, could be he is deaf it would account for why he ignores me when he is told to behave, but no he can hear me bite a biscuit from the bottom of the garden and i don't make that much noise.

Well around here tonight it is like Beirut in wartime. Quite unnecessary. The bangs and flashes started around 5pm and it's now approaching 9pm and still they are going strong. I wonder where families get the money to let it all go up in smoke! Beats me.

And I do feel sorry for pets who are traumatized by it all...it can take ages for them to recover!

I favour stringent restrictions on the use of fireworks too and only displays under licence...no private fireworks at any time in your own garden.

You tell em Jacquie! My OH just read it and suggested the punishment should be the death penalty..but praps thats a bit harsh...
Seriously, I agree with you. when we were young we had a couple packets of sparklers, a catherine wheel a rocket and a roman candle. Lasted half an hour with the old kitchen chair as the bonfire! And as we had to be in bed by 8pm, peace reigned in the neighbourhood at a decent hour!

HAH! Bjs...its the male disease..selective hearing..ask Pauline, Im sure she agrees..lol!

As for painting that lot..think I will start off with one stem at a time.

Beautiful arrangement.

I "think" the fireworks have finally stopped....and it's just gone 10.30pm. And it'll all start up again tomorrow!

Long gone are the days of sparklers and a catherine wheel, M. They're like bombs now, these fireworks. I had two vases on top of our fridge and from the vibrations of the fireworks around here tonight they wiggled their way next to each other and rattled til I moved them apart. That seems an extreme procedure....oh....and just to finish off.... here comes some more fireworks...10.40pm now! :(

We didn't seem to get so many fireworks this year. There was a big display in the town on the Saturday. I always think of the animals in the fields. They must get frightened by the fireworks. It' bad enough for the pets.

Agree Lindak, we have what is known as "the Northern Slopes" near us where goats and pigs graze and there are at least 50 horses who graze within a two mile radius. A nightmare for them I guess.
However, my "display" is still going strong, minus a couple of roses, but the buds have taken their place by opening up - much better investment than fireworks!

They are a lovely arrangement. The only colour we have now is a few violas that I've planted. It's a terrible day today, high winds and rain.

11 Nov, 2010

Yes, we are having a bad hair day too Lindak! I still have a few buds on the roses and the fuchsia and alstroes are still hanging on by the skin of their teeth in all this wind.
Apart from the two pale pink roses and the schizo, the vase of flowers is still going strong..the buds are opening too.

Very nice.
