dreaming...

dreaming...

this is the picture that was created [in oils] when i went for my tuition with an artist. i had a lot of help, i have since painted the sky bluer cos i wanted it to look idyllic. the picture was based on several photos i had downloaded but in fact it is incredibly like the view from Seilebost looking over to Taransay in the Outer Hebrides.

In my imagination and through your beautiful painting, I was right there....windswept and happy! You did a wonderful job of that painting, Sticki. Do you still paint? You would appear to have a lovely talent for it. :)

19 Nov, 2010

Seilebost is really like that ~ no exagguration! even the blue sky ~ on a good day!

19 Nov, 2010

i only wish whistonlass ~ i had an awful lot of help from a very talented artist. i wanted to show you the picture ~ but the artist [Michael Salt] should have the credit not me; oh and so should the Hebridean Isle of Harris.

19 Nov, 2010

50/50 I say, half to the artist and half to you.

19 Nov, 2010

Well even if you DID have help Sticki, its still lovely. Well done. :o)

19 Nov, 2010

its a lovely place ~ google: luskentyre or seilebost on harris, outer hebrides

19 Nov, 2010

Love the painting Sticki....well done!! You can feel the breeze, looking at the grasses in the foreground....looks to be a blindingly hot day....my favourites....:o))

19 Nov, 2010

thank you! lovely big skies up there, i havent done the sea colour justice ~ its an incredible colour ~ from sapphire to emerald to aqua to well, pure heaven!

19 Nov, 2010

Wow,that is just lovely..how I wish I could paint..you shouldn't be so hard on yourself..you may have had a good tutor..but YOU painted it..well done:o)))

19 Nov, 2010

i painted over the bits he did ~ he kept trying to get me to do some on my own but i only did bits of waves and sky oh i did so some grasses but i hadnt got a clue about the rocks.

19 Nov, 2010

I LIKE the bits you did, best.Lol.

19 Nov, 2010

20 Nov, 2010

Lovely photo! Not wanting to gloat (!) but our holiday next year is to Harris in the Outer Hebrides. Our holiday house is on the other side of the road from Seilebost beach....

22 Nov, 2010

oh fantastic you lucky thing. please take some photos and put them on here.
also if you find the house is good please would you PM me with the details? have a wonderful time you lucky lucky thing

22 Nov, 2010

I certainly will do. We will be getting the ferry across from Uig Bay in Skye. We stayed in Uig Bay last year and could see the ferry to Harris from the cottgae we stayed in.

22 Nov, 2010

brilliant, thank you.
i havent been on that ferry, been to skye a couple of times. generally speaking the west coast of harris was the most spectacular and i would spend all my time there ~ we were near Borve beach ~ in a replica 'black house' ~ you will see it from the road. the waves are incredible and so pure. there was a cafe that was worth visiting on the east side ~ skoon cafe ~ lovely food and they sell pictures too.

22 Nov, 2010

I have made a note of that, thank you! Only 8 1/2 months to go....

22 Nov, 2010

you will of course be almost at luskentyre which is spectacular ~ the colours in the water are unbelievable, i took literally thousands of pictures during that week and none of them really do it justice, we went in may.
be prepared to take lots of memory for your camera

22 Nov, 2010

I will be doing just that! Painting is something I would like to do but I just don't think I have it in me. I will be looking for inspiration to write some more of my 'poems'.
The owners of the holiday house told us that we just heve to cross the road, go across the grass verge and down onto the beach! When we looked on google earth, sure enough, they were right.

22 Nov, 2010

Wow thats a great painting, does capture the wild wind swept island perfectly! My son has a love affair with Sctoland and goes climbing and walking there, he sends me lots of photos of the fabulous scenery;0)

22 Nov, 2010

oooh very nice, im not so energetic ~ you could put his photos on here if he doesnt mind???

22 Nov, 2010

Well done Stickytoffee with the painting. I like the colours you have used, and the sea is excellent. The grasses lead you into the picture and the rocks give it some depth.

23 Nov, 2010

thats realy good i wish i was that talented

23 Nov, 2010

thank you lindak and jackiejenkin ~ im not talented i promise you ~ i can give you contact details for the artist if you like.

24 Nov, 2010

oh dear born again ~ im not one of those! ~ was made to go to church enough but it certainly didnt turn me into a saint ~ i shall have to change my name!!!
yes do go if you get even half a chance, on my computer i use google and it has an option to show the weather in various places ~ i always have one eye on the hebrides!!
Im hoping you are already dreaming up one of your wonderful poems geraniumdad ~ in anticipation!!??

Just catching up ST and noticed your comments about putting on some of Simon's photographs, I have written a few blogs regarding different walks and climbs he has done with some lovely views, i.e West Highland way, Great Glen. Snowdon and a number of others if want to take a look.;0)

13 Dec, 2010

i will certainly have a look at your blogs cos i have a real thing about scotland in particular but i do love all lovely landscapes ~ west highland way sounds really good, ive been through the great glen ~ looks daunting walking!
thank you.

13 Dec, 2010

i cant find the west highland way walk PP, what did you call the blog? the others are lovely, i dont know how they did it and take photos at the same time!!

13 Dec, 2010

This is great!! I wouldn't have the confidence for oils.

30 Jul, 2011

you would if the artist/tutor put most of it on for you! the beauty of oil is that you can go over the top of it!
