Amy, I had to Google the info on this as I've never seen or heard of it before. Really interesting reading about this jelly- like fungus. Thanks for this pic. : o )

That's brilliant, Amy, it really is a striking colour. I wonder if it has appeared because of all the heavy rain recently. Glad you enjoyed your walk.

I'm so glad you pointed it out to us Gee , I might have missed the chance to see it , maybe the rain did have something to do with it ? there were several clumps on this tree , I enjoyed the walk very much and to spot this as well was the icing on the cake . or should I say Witches Butter LOL...
I hope you all didn't mind seeing it twice , Gees and mine !

Never seen this fungi before. Noticed in our greenhouse we have a bracket type of fungi growing on the leg of my garden bench
20 Jan, 2011
It's something you don't noticed until it's pointed out to you David and then you start looking as I did after seeing Gees photo , this was in an old wood with lots of fallen rotten trees , although it is maintained there are new bird boxes fixed to several of the trees ....
I wonder what you have growing Linda , maybe it would be nice with bacon ... :o))
20 Jan, 2011
More like poison with bacon methinks LOL. We used to have field mushrooms and a blue fungi that grew on rotting wood in the field when we had the smallholding and we ate both.
20 Jan, 2011
Yikes , I don't much like the sound of the blue fungi , I wonder if they were Wood Blewits they are blueish and you can eat them .... I use to pick the Field mushrooms but I'm not so keen now they have a lot of maggots in them .. ;o(
20 Jan, 2011
think they were blewits Amy. I can remember cooking field mushrooms and finding the maggots too. WOnder how many I digested in the past.....
21 Jan, 2011
