Jane its beautiful, mine nearly ready to burst out, had mine 2yrs now same colour as yours, first year it flowered then last year it did'nt do well at all, but it produced a new baby bulb instead, baby one not done any good this year but i thing it needs to grow abit, as its only 1/2 the size of the mother bulb.

A fabulous lot of blooms you've got, Janey. I've been unsuccessful this year in getting mine to bloom and I think it is my fault as the bulb feels soft in the soil...over watered I reckon. I'll have to bite the bullet and get it out of the pot to investigate.
I love the colour too...very rich.

Thanks for all the lovely comments, it has been a real beauty, and such a tonic watching it grow and develop and then flower in only a few weeks, incredible!
Carol, I've never been able to keep one from one year to the next and get it to flower, so you've done well with the new baby bulb!
Sounds like that's the problem Whist, they don't like the wet do they. I fancy having a go at growing the Jersey Lilies which would flower in the early Autumn planted outside....they are just to the right look, a beautiful pink.

Oh yes, Janey...I see the Jersey lillies and they are very pretty. I hope you are successful in sourcing them and watching them grow for wonderful blooms in the autumn.

That's a really great photo of a beautiful Amaryllis, Janey! :-)) I've added it to my favourites as well!
My first Amaryllis of the year is about to open its third flower. It's looks to be a little lighter red than yours.
On the kitchen windowsill I have another bulb that has a stem 3/4 of the flowering height so it should start to open in a week's time.
There are very many more to come yet!

The Jersey Lilies look similar to Criniums? or Nerines, all flowering in the autumn.
Thanks Balc......we have enjoyed it, just about finished now though. Crikey, sounds like you have got a collection there....looking forward to seeing the pics....:o)

I've taken a couple more photos that I'll upload this evening. I've seen that I have two more bulbs with buds that should be opening in the next couple of weeks. :-))
