Thanks Elsiemay! I've been thinking about you, hope you are feeling a little bit better. I had just pulled yards of ivy off the inside of the seat, so this year it can get a well deserved clean and repaint!

Oh, I did wonder what was covering a lot of the seat...and you've just said, ivy! It looks a perfect hideaway to sit and contemplate...or even survey your kingdom :)

A lovely arbour .I envy you this as my hubby always thinks he can build anything rather than buy it. They usually end up ok but generally whatever it is i cant wait to have something growing up it to hide it. He is always so proud of it that i havent the heart to tell him. He's happy.

Och! Bless him! At least he wants to build something for you, plenty don't want to get involved at all! I'm sure it's all lovely!

Thanks libet for that. He's happy doing what he's doing and even if he has no plan in his head ,everything seems to turn out okay. He built ( before his athritis) a 40foot train room in the part of the garden which is out of site of the main garden out of pallets which have always been delivered for allotmentholders to make compost areas.He used a crowbar and separated the wood from the pallets and it is an amazing building now. He has 34 steam trains and created a large layout,landscaping it as he went.This unfortunately is what replaces the garden work which he now cant do.

Good grief! He doesn't do things by half does he! That must be a sight to see, you should get him to do a short blog and some pics on here, the folks would find that really interesting! My Hubby's family were very involved with railways over here from the late 1800's to the mid 70's. His great great grandfather was a stationmaster who lived on the station with his wife, and all the family from that time on were born and raised on the railway station in a little house attached to the back of the ticket office and waiting room! In fact, one of his sons, (hubby's grandpa) took over as stationmaster, when his father retired. Keith remembers fondly being hoisted up onto the footplate of the various steam engines as they waited in the station for passengers to board, and then being carried down the platform and lifted up to light the gas lamps! What an adventure for a little boy!! We still have his grandpa's chair at home here, that was in the signal box. Keith remembers being mesmerised by the levers for changing the points, that were shone up so much you could see your face in them, and didn't dare go near, let alone touch! His grandpa always used a cloth and never touched the brass with his bare hands!

I've just been looking at your garden from 2000 and didn't realise that from your recent pics. that it was so large.What a wonderful job you have both done.I love your story about your family's history.Hubby was quite impressed . He has always been interested in the railway and a layout. This is the biggest he has ever built and the only downside is that it is outside so doesn't use it much in the winter.The little heater out there doesn't make much difference.I will send some pics. through of his layout to show your hubby.My hubbies mum lived in Newton Abbey in C. Antrim.

By the way hubby wouldn't know one end of a computer to another!I think a blog would be out of the question.

I wouldn`t mind hiding in this little nook, with or without the scrumped tomato.lol.
