Thanks all dear friends, this was a freebie that just popped up! I love it when that happens, it came out this morning and was gone by this evening! Such a shame. Gee have you tried the oriental ones? If you buy the plant they will grow for you.

Beautiful Grandmage.
I've never been successful with Poppies, but the seeds I let the Granddaughter scatter, looks like I'm getting a few poppies at last. :o)

Oh I am so glad Linda, they are beautiful for a brief moment and of course you will have even more next year.

I've only tried from seed, both bought and collected from friends, Grandmage. I scattered them about freely but no luck. The only ones I've have any success with are the little Welsh poppies and that has taken several years! I did look at some poppy plants at the Kent Garden Show recently but they seemed quite expensive and I wanted my heucheras :)

I know what you mean, plants are pricey arent they and you have to stick to the budget!! Lol. Sometimes poppy seeds can live in the soil undisturbed for twenty years and then suddenly grow!

I'll have to be very patient and long-lived then, Grandmage :)

The poppies are lovely but like you say its a pity they have such short lives!

Ha ha, Gee :~), this one only lasted for today Pp. I think if the weather had been hot and dry maybe a little longer.
