my tortoise, henry the girl... got hit by a car and stayed 'put' for a year .... then was ok ... I fed her beans & tomatoes

I got 5 living at my yard.... One our leopard tortoise's was run over by a 4*4 truck .. cracked open and the vet 'triniponed' it together ..with wire ... We call him trinapon ... he fine now.

These things actually run around wild? Remarkable ! I envy you having her for a pet.........and I thought I was lucky getting Box turtles in my yard ! Bless your heart for taking care of her for the year that she couldn't move.

Reminds me of when I was a kid. I also had a pet tortoise who often escaped out onto the dirt road beyond our garden and was run over often - with no damage done.
