Only 5 weeks meadowland. I signed up for a course and I love it. Previously I thought I would like oils because of their bright colours. I had a little go with them but I don't think I understood what I was doing. I'm not good at drawing. What I love about water colour is the effects and the surprises it gives! I have a lot to learn yet though!
Our homework this week is to copy a picture using only one colour - but using tones and shades!

Hah yes maybe they do! Have you ever tried acrylics or oils? WC is the hardest paint to use!

Looks excellent to my (untalented) eyes. Beautiful colours.

I find the larger the water colour the more difficult it is. The colour palette is lovely Meadowland.

I have just dug out the Windsor and Newtons not seen them for years. I was doing abstracts when I last used them, abstracts are very useful when you have paint doing what it is not supposed to be doing ;0) I will get some paper at weekend.

18 Oct, 2011

yes great for skies ~ you never know quite what will happen!! but to my mind there is so much water in the sky, in the clouds, it seems the right medium to portray them.

Meadowland and Stickie, my pictures have already been on here, you will have to go back to my blogs to find them.

Yes It is water colour but as I use tubes, to get more detail of trees e.t.c. I use them with a dry paint brush.I start by doing it all wet and then I build it all up gradually which is why they don't all look like water colour. I went to night school for painting about 18 years ago.I could draw but not paint and when I did ,the teacher said ,although it wasn't like water colour , it was my way of painting and should stick to it, so I did.I think I did do wet in wet for the water scenes, but as its a few years since I did them, I can't quite remember.

Beautiful, I would be VERY WILLING to hang this in my house - I should be so lucky; -...
