Love the atmosphere in this San. I can see a really 'illustrative' style evolving in your work....just a thought!

Well,well,San...That is brilliant! I love it,and recognised it from my pic, straight away..I don't think it needs changing at all either..and your dry stone walling is so good.I like the way you have captured their manes, blowing in the wind..and it really was windy,so high up there, even though it was a lovely sunny day...you have done a great job..going on my favourite, naturally ! Lol.

Thats really nice San ! and for a first attempt at animals , you wouldn't think so ,well done ........

9 Dec, 2011

San I wanted to ask you what you paint on... my art group leader wants me to do a bigger painting next year but the paper I have is 14" x 10" still thats probably enough white paper to cover.....
having an idea what to to, and what you feel you want to do is one of the difficulties and of course ( in my case) making it look like the idea!!!

9 Dec, 2011

Hi Balcony and thankyou so much for your kind comment :o))
cheers homebird very kind :o))
thankyou to Amy, i amazed myself to be honest, didnt think it would turn out like this :o))
Hi Pam, this size is 16"/12" Galeria acylic paper and i also use Daler rowney to as they are both good quality,
i havent done any bigger on paper but i would get these makes for acrylic in a bigger size if i intended painting a bigger picture, otherwise i use a canvas.
so really your size isnt much different to mine, also depends what you intend on painting, if i want inpact i use a canvas.
hope this helps, we have to paint a sky painting for our wall at art society and im hoping to go for a pink/red sky something dramatic.
it is hard to decided what to paint Pam, thats why i always take my camera out with me just incase i see something i would like to paint, and sometimes in the case of this one i liked bloomers photo so ask her if i could pinch it haha :o))
also remember when you like a photo just pick out parts rather than looking at the whole picture, then it doesnt seem so daunting,

9 Dec, 2011

true San, that why I find it difficult to paint outside-- its so big!!! its easier with a camera to frame a view to, as you say, just paint a bit!, thanks for your help..happy painting...:0))

9 Dec, 2011

your welcome Pam, happy painting to you to ;o)))

9 Dec, 2011

10 Dec, 2011

Sandra its fantastic well done you.

11 Dec, 2011

thankyou carol so much, i amazed myself being able to even do a horse lol :o))

11 Dec, 2011

I would have to do some drawing first San, It is a whole different skill painting direct. I am impressed.

11 Dec, 2011

thankyou Pimpernel, i can draw to a point but just dont like to, i also think im impatient and just want to get some paint on haha
i just find it easier as acrylics blocks the drawing out anyway unlike watercolours where you can still see the pencil. :o))

11 Dec, 2011

wonderful S, love to hill walk & this painting has all the elements plus your horses are full of character. I draw & wildlife is a favourite subject but my horses always end up looking like donkeys, seriously. Spent days copying an Albrietch Durer in pen & ink years ago, armoured soldier on horseback, very detailed down to the last rivet, stood back on completion & there was this fine & fiercesome spear carrying warrier sat on Jenny the seaside donkey!!! scared for life & never went near the subject again despite being an avid horse rider back home in Devon. I still have that drawing somewhere.

13 Dec, 2011

Hi Bampy and thankyou for your comments and compliments, made me laugh about your horse/donkey haha, maybe if you find it you can post it so we can see, wish i could draw though :o))

13 Dec, 2011

if I find it I'll pop it up San, & for the record I wish I could be a better colourist, utterly hopeless when it comes to paint. Love trying though !!

13 Dec, 2011

Lol..Bampy..Done that sort of thing many times. If you hold the work to a mirror as you go, it is supposed to show up the faults..I still got many dodgy paintings though.

13 Dec, 2011

thanx Bampy look forward to that ;o))
your right there Pimpernel, i do that to and it does work ;o))
