thanks Sheila, OH Sticki what am I going to do with you, mention Rhubarb and you want a crumble, Lol

9 Mar, 2012

well you cant have rhubarb without the crumble can you???

when i was little mum used to give us a stick of rhubarb and an egg cup full of sugar to dip it in!!

9 Mar, 2012

I really want to like rhubarb but I just dont!

9 Mar, 2012

Oh my goodness, Webmoose you don't like Rhubarb, you don't know what you are missing, Sticki I could'nt eat it like that, it must have been sour, even with the sugar

9 Mar, 2012

it was but we liked it ~ i think it was a bit like the poor persons version of sherbet??

rhubarb mousse and yoghurt is really nice and pie possibly even better!!

it also goes with Duck!! have you tried that webmoose???

9 Mar, 2012

I have a bag of the old fashioned sherbert here Sticki, Jo bought it for me from an old fashioned sweet shop, Duck with Rhubarb sounds nice,

9 Mar, 2012

almost like sweet and sour!

in a little old sweet shop near where i work they are making something that looks a bit like a bouquet ~ they use 50 wrapped sweets then each one is put on a stick with coloured fancy paper looking like a large flower around each sweet, then the sticks are pushed into a central holder so the whole thing looks like a big spherical bouquet!

9 Mar, 2012

gosh that sounds intresting, how much are they, might have you going shopping for me,

9 Mar, 2012

um a bit more than i hoped.

£19.99 cheapest!!

also they are at least a foot in diameter ~ bit hard to post???

9 Mar, 2012

Oh good grief, lets forget about that one Aye,

9 Mar, 2012

it was a bit of a surprise, but i can see why ~ there is quite a lot of work involved and they do look nice.

9 Mar, 2012

maybe you could go in with your camera and say my friend lives way up north and she is very intrested in placing an order for say 200 and she needs to see what they look like first, then take a photo and don't go back

9 Mar, 2012

they probably wouldnt mind me taking a photo ~ will try to get one next week for you

9 Mar, 2012

11 Mar, 2012

I start all our peas off in plastic cups, like those you get from a vending machine, you can pick up 100 very cheap and use them time and time again, we let them grow until about 4" high then plant them out, why not try that S/L we had hundreds of peas

11 Mar, 2012

thanks i'll give it a try :-)

11 Mar, 2012

believe me you will be delighted, go to one of the £1 shops or wilkinsons, some cheap place, they work out about 1p each, if you get stuck let me know and I will try and sort some out for you,

11 Mar, 2012

S/L go to my photos and look at page 8 I have a photo on of the peas growing in the pots, then go to page 5 and see how they grow,

This looks really good Val. Gerry has just bought a crown and planted, although we have two in the ground already, about three years old and hope that this year we will get some sticks. We love rhubarb and I make crumble and pie with them.

16 Mar, 2012

my plant must be well over 15 years old Lin, its even larger now as to when I put this photo on last week, good luck with yours,
