Woodland border - this needs quite a lot of work to be done tidying up etc.

Is that a monkey puzzle at the back mum?

This one is my favourite.

yes it is a monkey puzzle tree, one of the first trees to be put in the border, it was so tiny when we put it in, think it is a bit overshadowed now by the huge christmas tree, lol. the ladybirds like to hide for the winter in the spikey bits.

I didn't realise they grew that fast!

Think it came from Anita and Michaels garden at Laughton, he didn't like trees and we said we would plant it in ours it will be about 20 years since we put it in, think Jo was a little nipper about 4/5 years old when they moved into the house in Laughton. The Christmas tree was also from there. It is huge now. Keep thinking it will blow down if we get a strong gust from the West but it still stands up bit bent with the wind but very big trunk on it and the roots go all over the garden. One of the reasons I put in a raised border for the veggies, I could not get through all the tree roots at that side of the garden.

I bet this is lovely when all the spring flowers are out.

It is very shady area until after noon and then it gets quite a lot of sunshine as the sun moves into the west side. only problem with it is that it gets very dry up there, the trees soak up the moisture very quickly.

We have the same problem in our woodland garden, but the euphorbias I put on the other day seem to thrive in there , and they don't get a lot of sun either.

I love woodland gardens so natural, you must have lots of wildlife in this area;0))

Mainly a perishing bunny which keeps getting through the wire and eating everything in sight, but we do have lots and lots of lovely birds, even had a tree creeper going up and down the silver birch tree a few days ago.

How lovely! I have seen a Tree creeper but it was a few years ago when we lived at the cottage, rabbits are lovely creatures but can do so much damage in gardens!
