New birdbath...

...an unexpected gift from my youngest daughter and son in law, it's not my birthday or anything so I was really surprised and delighted. They also bought me 10 solar lights, as yet unpacked - waiting for the sunshine :)

It is lovely. It would match my pots perfectly. Surprise gifts are always specially welcome. I'm sure they think the world of you. Ps just noticed it matches your pot too. Lovely.

Must keep an eye open for this bird bath Gee. Grandmage says she saw it at her GC. LOL!! I have 2 already. I love that blue. Your lovely family are complementing you for your garden makeover, and all the thought and hard work that went into it. Torrential rain here for a couple of hours earlier

Thanks for all the comments. I am very pleased with the bird bath and, as there was a little sunshine this morning, I have put my solar lights in situ. Very windy and chilly here in spite of the sun although walking in the woods was quite pleasant but slippery.

Concerning your bay tree blackbirds and camellia ducks GEE. A few days ago I chopped a big branch off our oldest Camellia near the side fence. Later I noticed a blackbird go into the top of it. I went to investigate and Mrs Blackbird is on a nest in near the top of the shrub. I didn't see the nest. Must go to spec savers! The cats and the foxes come over the fence there, even though there are spikes and a black metal cat with glittery eyes that Chris next door has fixed there. What a dicey place to nest.

Fingers crossed that you have baby blackbirds too, Dorjac. Mine have now left the nest but I am still not sure how many as I have only seen one at a time! Unfortunately the ducks have disappeared, no sign of them for two days now so I presume the nest has been abandoned. I think Mother Duck was a young bird and not sure what she was doing :)

This blackbird is very aggressive with the starlings. Keeps seeing them off the lawn. They mostly ignore his efforts or go into the border, and pop out when he turns his back. I wondered where all the feathers went after a Sparrow Hawk attack the other day. There a big lawn next door, and a big garden in the sheltered housing. so he has plenty places to gather food.
