Your close-up photos are just fabulous, P, and this is another one. You must have a really good camera?

Thanks

It is a Panasonic Lumix TZ6 Oji. A really simple easy camera.

Can't grow rhubarb in pots really, I have tried and tried.

Have you got any nice Bramleys to go with that when the time comes?

15 Jun, 2012

Isn´t it poisonous, Pim? I know lot of things which look edible and nice, but they aren´t.

15 Jun, 2012

It's a thornless blackberry Katarina.

I checked these in "our" orchard yesterday - yours are more advanced, ours are just flowering. I just love blackberry and apple crumble hhhmmmm!

15 Jun, 2012

PS Blackberry and Pear with chopped Pistachio nuts in the crumble is just as good too!

15 Jun, 2012

Sounds good the last one, Petaltracey :))

15 Jun, 2012

another amazing shot. :0)

15 Jun, 2012

are they just poisoness if theyre growing next to a road because of the fumes? or was that just another daft thing my mum told me as a kid lol? great shot agen pimp:o)

15 Jun, 2012

They are not really even poison then Leigh they would need a good wash, but it would be better to find them away from main roads..Your mum was probably just stopping you from eating any wild berry just in case.

BTW young lady I may not be 21 any more but that's no reason to call me AGEN or did you forget to put the T on the end ? :))

hahah!

My blackberries are still at the pretty pink flower stage, but I'll post a picture of the apples you need to go with this. How about apple and bramble ice cream, guys? All the flavour, half the calories? (well, that's my story, anyway) You'll have me wishing away the days of summer in my hurry to get to pie-season!

August is usually blackberry gathering season for us here, and most of them are over by the first week of September, whereas I seem to remember gathering them well into October in England. We did cut these enormous bushes back to the ground in March, so maybe they will be a little later fruiting this year. They aren't cultivated - just wild ones that happen to be within our fence. Wish they were thornless like yours, Pims!

we used to have apple crumble at school - half an inch of apple and two inches of crumble. took at least two glasses of water to get that down!

I've only ever made crumble with apple and rhubarb - separately! I'll have to get a bit more adventurous

16 Jun, 2012

I only planted this bit at the end of march I think Gattina. Saved it when clearing Ma's garden, it has done amazingly well.

I fancy trying Petaltracey's idea with the pistachio nuts in the crumble. Wouldn't mind that Icecream either.

16 Jun, 2012

I've got brambles growing through from next door, I presume that wild ones aren't the seame, or as productive, as "proper" ones?

17 Jun, 2012

lol agent pimp! -no it was ment to say again- sometimes i cant mek up me mind whethr am riting in txt lnguge or yorkshire dialect or with correct vocabulary and punctuation lol :-)

17 Jun, 2012

Fran - we get all our brambles from the wild - not so big or juicy as cultivated ones, but lovely flavour!

17 Jun, 2012

I was forgetting you were a Tyke Leigh...you do things differently over the border and have your own rules ;))

them brambles are the same fran ..if you can get the neighbour to cut them back in march they will have loads of blackberres on.

17 Jun, 2012

thanks Gattina and Pim. they've cleared their garden at last of rampant weeds, but considerately left about a foot untouched by their side of the fence. so I still get the canes creeping through.

When I was clearing the junk out of my garden, i did try planting some I'd uprooted in a pot, but it didn't take it very well.

btw, nice portrait, Gattina - or should I say Jessica?
