Nice surprise

Nice surprise

I had forgotten I had these, I think I planted 2 but now I have found another which must have self-seeded! They have a lovely scent.

I think it might be Primula Florindae?

Hi. Yes Primula florindae, I have them, grew from seed. Nice as they flower at this time of year following the Candleabras. You can collect the seed and grew easily. Nice big leaves that slugs dont devour, big strong plants that I wouldn't be without. Like damp, ideal or pond edge but I also have in the border. Love them.

oh thats all good news, thank you dawnsaunt! they said they liked damp and my soil is quite free draining but of course no problem this summer!! im going to dig a pond in the autumn so i will put them near that!

A Primula that I do like - very nice Sticki!

12 Jul, 2012

and slugs dont like it meanie ~ its a great one!!!

Sticki, dont know if you have them but Primula Candelabra are good too. Like shade and damp but mine do good in the border too. So colourful for weeks, just going over now, easy to grow from seed. Would give colour to your pond edge in May/June.

i love the candelabra, dawnsaunt, thanks, i might treat myself once i have the pond, at the moment i have very free draining soil which might normally be too dry for them, this year these have done well because of all the rain but in a drier year they may need the pond area???

12 Jul, 2012

This continuous rain has some advantages. I can save you some seed :).

12 Jul, 2012

oh yes please dawn's aunt, that would be lovely, thank you.

12 Jul, 2012
