You're probably right Carole , each of those leaves are the size or bigger than dinner plates !

We grow the yellow one, but it is so slow, mind you the poor thing has been moved three times, will be very pleased when it is as large as this one!!

They do get rather large Ph , this had flowers previous years Meanie none this year it will I expect take another year to recover from being cut down , this is only about a third of the size it was Angela it was almost as tall as that Silver Birch next to it you might not want it that big !

Really, how old is it then Amy? there is the most fantastic ancient one in St Palais sur Mer with the largest beans I have ever seen.....

That's interesting Angela we haven't been there , this tree is about 15 years old it's looking much better since it was cut down ,we only left a stump about a metre tall I'm surprised at how well it has grown this year ....

Amy when did you cut it down then? not that ours needs cutting, but I would like to know, do you treat the same way you treat a Paulownia ?

This was cut down last autumn Sept/Oct Angela you can see how much it has grown in that time , I imagine you would treat it in the same way as a Paulowna although I haven't had one ,I do know they shoot up quickly after being cut down in the same way , funny thing there wasn't anything on this one until the spring I really thought it was dead .. I'm tempted to cut it down every couple of years just to keep getting these lovely big leaves ......
