Thanks all , These heads are approx 9" in length Ithe plant it's self being approx 2ft tall I've seen them in tub arrangements in parks ,I have this one in my gravel garden , it's the rain drops on them thats making them look sticky Hywel ....

Saw these in France a few years ago, most impressive Amy, we did not know what it was then....

That's where I've seen most of them Angela , they do such fantastic flower displays don't they ? :o)

do they seed themselves everywhere or do you cut them and use them for indoor flower displays? They are different!

This is my first year of having it Pam ,I'm really not sure what it will do, I wouldn't mind if it seeded it'self , I will wait to see what condition the plumes are in at the end of summer before deciding whether to cut and keep them or not ........

Yes the French really go to town in some of the villages, especially Normandy.....
