There are disadvantages, you know. I just can't think of very many right now, though.

I agree, stunning.

Heavenly!!!!!!!!

Do you ski Gattina? I met my husband on a skiing holiday in Livigno Italy 37 years ago. Beautiful country.

No, Cammomile - I am a devout coward, and hurling myself down a steep mountain on two bits of wood (OK, something like carbonfibre these days - same difference) sounds like the ultimate in stomach-wrenching, bone smashing misery. I'm happy to stand on the same mountain and just gaze at the views. We have some not very well known skiing centres a few kilometers from here - Monte Cimone and Cornu alle Scale, where the famous Italian skier Alberto Tomba trained. Gorgeous places. I don't know Livigno at all, but can imagine it must be equally lovely.

the nearest I got to skiing was at the Beckton Alps ski slope, and I started half way down and that was enough! I prefer looking at mountains in admiration from a distance.

:o)

Its fine if you have a couple of hot chocolates spiked with brandy - they you don't care about hurling yourself off a mountain. Best, most fun filled holidays I ever had.

Lol - same here, I was rubbish till I'd had a couple of large vin chaud, then I could get down anything. Not always stood up mind and style wasn't the first word that sprang to mind. But, I was also a lot younger then - sigh.....................Jx

lol I don't see the point of going up just to come down again, then going up again just to come down yet again. Maybe cross country skiing, where you're getting somewhere. lol besides I've just been watching a programme about avalanches ....

Where's your sense of excitement Fran - much better holiday than whaleing it on a beach, much more healthy too!

12 Aug, 2012

lol I don't lie on beaches, I prefere to be doing things when I'm on holiday, but I know my limitations - walking in mountains would be enough of an adventure for me - gives me time to appreciate nature.

12 Aug, 2012

A girl after my own heart! We've just come back from a walk (blog later) at 1,800 m asl and appreciating nature was almost too hard a task as it was swarming around us! :o)

12 Aug, 2012

Look forward to the blog. jx

same here!

12 Aug, 2012

We've just aborted a lovely evening walk - dozens of neighbours out, each wanting a nice long chat: we did 500 yards in 40 minutes. Maybe we shall try again once it's dark!

12 Aug, 2012

How wonderful. Your neighbours sound lovely even if you didn't get a chance of a walk.

12 Aug, 2012

well, cementing relations with one's neighbours is rarely a waste of time! have a good walk later :-)

12 Aug, 2012

You're right, they are lovely. I didn't mean to make that sound like a complaint, but the exercise was a little lacking!

12 Aug, 2012

lol understandable, no matter how much you like your neighbours a country walk isn't the same as a neighbourhood chat-crawl!

13 Aug, 2012

Looks divine Gattina, gorgeous light too.......

14 Aug, 2012

The amazing light is probably the most important reason we have for loving this country, Janey. It is quite remarkable.
