Thousands of people escaped to the beach to cool down from the very hot weather inland, today. It was a cool, comfortable 85ºF/29ºC. at Pacific Beach, San Diego, CA. Photo taken August 7, 2012.

Yes, it's a relative term. It was almost 108ºF (42ºC) inland and the low desert was around 120ºF (48.9ºC). All the inland communities were under excessive heat warnings!
