you might need a plough horse to move the sleepers!!?
i was thinking it was moveable but i must have been remembering the gate which you can just see, bottom left.

that is very clever what a good idea. Looks really neat and tidy too. :O)

i loved it oliveoil, it was in an open garden [NGS] in pershore! big garden, used to be the vet's house ~ it was a bit like being on the set of all creatures great and small!!
24 Sep, 2012
That's a nice size of veg garden. But not really chicken proof I'd say, lol.
24 Sep, 2012
no possibly not! i think it was more to remind their dogs not to go in there and maybe rabbits too?
it was only part of a very large garden
24 Sep, 2012
Thats an attractive veg garden. Luckily I dont get rabbits, but dont you have to put the chicken wire into the ground so they dont go underneath?
24 Sep, 2012
its not my garden Drc so i cant really answer, i think you are right ~ maybe thats why the sleepers are there ~ would that help?
perhaps its a preventative or a slow-them-down solution rather than completely sealing them out???
if their dogs are outside i cant imagine many rabbits would brave the garden at the same time???
24 Sep, 2012
I have read on here that they burrow under fences and chicken wire is needed about a foot down?
24 Sep, 2012
Nothing much stays in the garden with the dogs outside!
24 Sep, 2012
what a place , its so beautiful:-))))
24 Sep, 2012
Lovely made, Sticki, is it yours?
:)
24 Sep, 2012
it was a lovely garden junna, but no katarina, sadly not mine, this is about 30 miles from my house in the vale of Evesham, famous for growing fruit trees and asparagus
24 Sep, 2012
Hmm. I love asparagus ..:). Asparagus is growing so far on the North?
24 Sep, 2012
oh yes, its very good!
they have a whole festival to celebrate
http://www.britishasparagusfestival.org/
24 Sep, 2012
We have them too, but they are too far from the place I live. Asparagus is very, very good :))
24 Sep, 2012
they have stalls or shops by the road side [some are garden centres] but there are also signs along the road, last year i went to get the freshly picked bunches ~ delicious!!
24 Sep, 2012
What do you do from it, Sticki? I once ate a very delicious asparagus cream soup at Italians in London. So goood :))
24 Sep, 2012
mostly, especially when its so fresh i either simmer it for a short while and serve it with butter and black pepper or a little bit of mayonnaise [easier than the traditional hollandaise] or sometimes put it in a griddle pan with a little olive oil!
24 Sep, 2012
...and you add it to meat? As we use it as vegetable garnish to meat. Or we serve it as rolls made from turkey ham and inside is asparagus and horseraddish.
24 Sep, 2012
sometimes it can be a starter or it is a veg with meat, and yes i have also done it with ham wrapped round it, and i think you can serve it with a poached egg too.
24 Sep, 2012
How enviably neat that looks!
My daughter's mother-in-law lives just outside Pershore. It is beautiful round there.
25 Sep, 2012
This was one of about 20 gardens that were open for the weekend, it's a really good event if you happen to be near enough. I think tea was served in the school hall but in this garden you could taste home made cider!!
Everywhere was incredibly neat melchi!
25 Sep, 2012
Yes - it certainly puts me to shame! And now most of what I can see through the dreary gloom is being beaten down by the rain. Oh dear...
25 Sep, 2012
but im sure everyone makes an extra effort, probably enlisting help too for an open garden!!??
25 Sep, 2012
That's a comforting thought, Sticki, and probably true!
25 Sep, 2012
:-))
well i think that would be fair comment!
25 Sep, 2012
Well, it is what one would expect and hope really, isn't it?
:-)) (At least, it's what I should expect and hope - and definitely need!)
25 Sep, 2012
i hope for a nice cake and a cup of tea!!!!

The rabbits that live around here would jump that easily I've watched them in our garden, also it's amazing how small a hole they can get through we had some chicken wire that was no more than an inch or two wide across each hole and was surprised to see a fully grown rabbit dive straight through it Drc is right about having to dig the wire deep into the ground they burrow underneath . We didn't have this problem when we had our lovely old dog so that could be the answer , I wonder if you can buy a toy that makes a woof in the garden like you can those frogs that croak :o)
26 Sep, 2012
I wonder why they have put that fence there then ~ do you think its just a preventative to their dogs, oh............ I know ~ they have geese and ducks too! [geese that chase you!] maybe its to stop them?
26 Sep, 2012
It's open at the other side, though, isn't it? Perhaps it's just decorative! Very posh, though!
26 Sep, 2012
i think all the little 'gates' were open for the open day but they could easily be put back,
26 Sep, 2012
There you are - very posh!!!
26 Sep, 2012
maybe they have posh rabbits?
26 Sep, 2012
Lol!

Oh great! I am very impressed! I can't decide whether I like number 2 or number 3 best! If they really looked like number 2 it would be hard to wage war on them!
26 Sep, 2012
i found them on google!!! but im not sure that the first one is lined up properly!!!
26 Sep, 2012
I think they are very appealing! I'll have to try some doodles for myself! Children would like them, wouldn't they?
26 Sep, 2012
they would love them!! so would i ~ you could always post a picture of the doodles!!!
26 Sep, 2012
Well, I might if I have any success! I wonder if children would have any problems perceiving them - I think young ones might. Not that I am any longer in a position to show them to a class! It might have been interesting, though...You know - "Can you tell what it is yet?" :-)
26 Sep, 2012
what they always seem to look for is the eyes, if it hasnt got eyes they dont like it!!!
26 Sep, 2012
No - I don't think I do, either!
27 Sep, 2012
here are some with eyes:

I like those! I shall definitely have to work on some. I think, though, you have to be the sort of person who can draw cartoon-type things, and I was never one of those! It's all to do with perception!
27 Sep, 2012
im sure you are right ~ its fun looking at them though, some of those are 3D which is definitely beyond me ~ maybe i could have a go at things like the fish!!
there is one of a mouse thats quite clever but its not working on here.
27 Sep, 2012
What do you google to find them, Sticki?
28 Sep, 2012
[IMG]http://i798.photobucket.com/albums/yy264/tanjipete/Picture705.jpg[/IMG] heres a better looking rabbit ha ha
28 Sep, 2012
Not too sure what I might find there, Tanjipete! Sadly, I couldn't get the link to work.
28 Sep, 2012
Ooooh that's really good looking rabbit! Nice one pete!
Melchi I googled draw animals in text (I think)
28 Sep, 2012
Thanks Sticki! Now why won't Pete's link work for me?
28 Sep, 2012
Knock off the [IMG] and use the rest of the link, I think that's what I did.
28 Sep, 2012
Of course - I should have thought of that for myself!
Very funny, Pete! And not just a pretty picture, either!
28 Sep, 2012
I found the Google links - thanks Sticki! Now I shall have to practise!
28 Sep, 2012
:-)
Have fun!!
28 Sep, 2012
Very neat garden but if the wildlife wants to get in it will. Rabbits dig deep holes. Love your little character rabbits Sticki.
1 Oct, 2012
Wish I had created them Linda! But I found them on google!

What a brilliant garden. It makes mine look like a builders' yard. Still, we pulled the first of our leeks yesterday, and messy surroundings or not, it tasted wonderful! We have all sorts of Heath Robinson protection around our vegetable garden to guard against hungry wildlife, and even the cats demonstrate just how easy it is to either push it over or jump over it, so I'm not sure why we're bothering. Luckily we don't have rabbits at all, or I think it could be a different story. I'm sure you're right about the underground protection Denise.
Loads of people grow asparagus round here, and we have a couple of weeks in early summer where we and everyone else eat STACKS of it, but nothing compares to the beautiful, sweet English version.
Sticki, I LOVE your virtual rabbits - that must have taken you a little while and a LOT of concentration.
Time to get out into the sunshine and spike the lawn and pull out all those weeds!
1 Oct, 2012
I'm not really a veg grower gattina, but I did love this. As to the rabbits two clicks - cut and paste!!
1 Oct, 2012
That's cheating, that is!
1 Oct, 2012
it would be if i had claimed the credit for myself but i was honest!!
1 Oct, 2012
True.......
1 Oct, 2012
:-)
1 Oct, 2012
I thought it was lovely snoop dog but it isn't mine! I saw it in a day of open gardens about 20 miles from where I live.

Yes, it's very pretty, thank you Sticki. Sleepers on the bottom and for posts then lots (and lots of boards!) and chook wire.
I spied some old and mossy sleepers beside that barn we visited. I asked the farmers grandaughter if I could claim them but have heard nothing back yet.
