Colour pencil on light watercolour. Drawn from looking at the plant and help from photos. The water colour helps to fill the grain in the paper. Layered colouring, then blending. When I think Iv'e finished I burnish it with a special pencil. This one is in the big book from SAA which has a Gnu, squirrel, boxing hares, Camellia, Rose, field mouse, seascape, A castle, Some are pure water colour, animals in pencil.

The SAA is the Society for All Artists Lindak. It has a very good website for contacting other art minded people. You can order almost any arty goods you might want. By post or on the website, at cheaper prices than in art shops, and no postage! There's a magazine, quarterly, with an ordering supplement and, of course a yearly fee to pay + competitions. Thanks for your comments. It isn't the whole of the picture. There are leaves and more stem. It was drawn on the patio from life. I can't imagine a scene as you can do, I wish I could. Animals..... Gnu/squirrel/harvest mouse/A wacky bird that tried to hatch golf balls/ boxing hares.

Hi Dorjac. I didn't realise it wasn't the whole painting. I love the large tulip heads, so realistic. What was the wacky bird that tried to hatch golf balls? Sounds fun.....
Thanks for the info.

Works well Dorjac, and know what you mean about filling the paper as some watercolour pads have a very rough surface. Even when watercolouring on them I have to go over again when first coat has dried. The tulips are very lifelike....well done. Constructive critism, so please don't take this the wrong way, the smaller tulips could have been left out of the picture.
