Hellebore. Name not known

This is a colour pencil on water colour base picture. It came out pale. So I used the reference photo as an Avatar instead. I didn't darken it down, as I might have spoilt it. The picture was drawn in front of the plant and then I used the photo help me complete the project.

This, I like, with a delicate feel to it Dorjac. The pencil treatment works well here.

This Hellebore starts out a very bright mauvy pink then lightens as it ages. It was a good year for that Hellebore when I took the photo and also drew it from life.

I also like the misty delicate look on this painting, very well observed and painted ;0))

I really like Hellebores as they flower for a long period and afterwards the leaves keep going and they are a lovely shape too.

That is a very delicate interpretation of what i consider a very robust plant.
I have painted them a couple of times approaching the subject in a similar way but useing Acrylic and the finished painting could not be more different.
I did post a yellow one but a long time ago.

I painted one in watercolour too Bjs. We all paint differently in different mediums too and that is what makes art interesting. Have you still got the pictures?

Yes Terra Hellebores are great for the garden and I think I shall get a few more to fill in gaps. This picture is lovely.

Thanks Homebird. I used to frame them up and rush about exhibiting them.....that takes effort and a lot of disapointment. Occasionally I sold one. I belonged to two art groups at one time for many years. I know it is not an encouraging thing to say, but the wonderful gift of digital photography has overshadowed appreciation of amateur reality in art. We HAD an art gallery owner friend, which helped. The two groups dwindled and grew older and some lost their 'mojo' too. Framing is pricey. Materials mostly last well. Every so often I do a drawing to tell myself I can still turn out a reasonable picture!
