Scottish is it the soil or the situation they do not like?

The soil DD2 - too moist! I have tried a few time, they last for a few weeks then the wilted look begins!
If/When I ever get round to doing the front garden, they may do well there - I've had gladioli bulbs survive there the last 3 years so it must be well drained enough!

Luckily they do take quite easily, says she, who has never done one in her life lol
