Garden Steps

This photo is for Fran as an explanation of the slope in my garden. Each set of steps leads to a level.

wow, Linda! that's some serious "tier-ing". Is there a space for you to access plants further along the tiers? or is this just beside the steps, that can be reached from the steps?

Is this the only way up? I imagine it'd be something of a chore to get heavy items up and down - or even small items if done repeatedly. Still, I suppose that's one way of keeping fit.

Do your steps go up from the house Linda? Lovely planting, I like the ferns and may have to copy :o)))

After the first 6 steps there is a pathway to the right and then 5 more steps to a landing then 3 steps to the lower lawn and finally two steps to the top lawn. :0) I am kept fit especially carrying the lawn mower.

some odd kind of numberical progression there - six steps, five, three, two, one. Still, the landings might give a breathing space.

*s* I'd get a block and tackle at the top, with a smooth slope up one side, for hauling large or weighty items - might not look good, but ...

I am sure Fran my life must be as confusing as my steps. :0) I admit I sometimes get Barry to carry the lawn mower up the steps. I cut the lawns so.......

A really romantic looking staircase to somewhere in the garden a bit remote and relaxing.....I hope. A comfortable lounger, a good book, no burbling phone, a bit of dappled shade and really relax.....forget the lawn mower Linda!

It is all these things Dorjac, but I have been out trimming the hedges too. I had to carry the ladders up the stairs!! :0/

It is lovely....very inviting pathway! It's lovely to have different levels, although hauling a lawn mower isn't great fun.

Honestly Karen....I am such a work horse. Today I was holding our long hedge cutters out to get that last bit of hedge which was nearly out of reach. I had to do it before the rain. They are so heavy.....not user friendly.

Oh dear...you take care! If that had been me, some terrible disaster would have befallen me...for sure!

I have a lot of trimming to do too Linda but no ladders involved. No chance today, as it bucketed down at 1pm, rained all afternoon, now the sun is out. I have borrowed next doors green wheely as they are away today to USA for 3 weeks, and I have the watering to do for them, over the fence with a hose+ plus window boxes, so quid pro quo. Flowering is about 3 weeks behind here near London. I nearly half filled our wheely with greenery but lots more to trim.

My inlaws are coming to stay on Monday for a week. Today was cleaning, tomorrow is shopping for food then cutting the lawns. At least I get to enjoy the trips too. The weather is good tomorrow here then not so good for the rest of the week. :0(

Thanks Janey...I have been up and down them like a yoyo today. Luckily Barry carried the lawn mower. :0)

it must take an awful lot of work to get something looking as "natural" as this!
