self seeded in a very good place for the birds to feed on too-you may see little goldfinch feeding on them :) and other kinds of birds also.

Yes Jane, all the birds will get their chance and maybe some more s/fs will grow for next year.
That is where I hang some of the sunflower seeds, (in a feeder) so they must drop a lot!! Still, if the heads are good when they seed, I have made a profit haven't I?!! :))
I must confess I pull a lot of seedlings out if they are where I don't want them!

They are lovely I have some self seeded but they are tiny I don't think they will come to anything this year .......

brilliant, the last few years i cant even get sunflowers to grow because the snails eat them first! so yours have done very well:-)

Thanks Summerbree. The snails did start on them at first & I lost quite a few to them, then I put down a few slug pellets!
Agh, not nice & I don't really like using them, but I placed 2 or 3 by each seedling I was trying to 'nurture' and it saved all those!
Snails & slugs were duly removed and there were many! No wonder the seedlings were struggling!!

I have had some greenfinches on them so far. Maybe other birds as well but not seen.
