Thanks everyone ,for the last 4 years I've been in the habit of putting it in the greenhouse in the spring and then bringing it in the house when the clocks change in the autumn, it blooms every year just after I bring it inside .. :o))

Saw some rather lovely BLUE ones in Tescos today! I've never seen blue ones before! The first I noticed was in a rather nice sky blue one on the floor by the plant stand then I saw some more high up on the top shelf but these were a much darker blue almost purple but I didn't like them nearly as much as the ones on the floor.

Funny you should say that Balcony because OH came home the other day to say he had passed a neighbours window and could see he had a bright blue Orchid in his kitchen window he asked me if I thought it had been dyed ,they do that with some flowers don't they ? I can't ask the neighbour about it as he moved on Friday !

Yes, they are dyed. It says so on the wrapping around the dark blue ones. I knew this wasn't natural colour in the ones on the floor & normally I don't like artificial colours in plants but the sky blue looked so nice!

I think that it is a Miltoniopsis Amy, but not 100% on that id.

Here is my blue orchid.................

It is a Vanda and it is genuinely blue!

Your 'Blue ' is absolutely gorgeous Meanie I have a sneaking feeling these ladies know you so well at the garden centers that they put items of interest aside to show you before anyone else sees them Lol ... I desperately hope it blooms for you next year I'm sure it will with your green fingers !
Thanks for putting me right about the 'Cambria ' it didn't have a label when I bought it ,I judged it by the pictures in my Orchid book the nearest pic . was Vuylstekeara cambria 'Plush' , I will change the name ! I'm not sure if it's going to survive as the leaves have started turning brown :o(

"Thanks for putting me right about the 'Cambria ' it didn't have a label when I bought it "
Don't quote me on that unless you're sure!

"I'm not sure if it's going to survive as the leaves have started turning brown"
Each pseudobulb is monocarpic, so that is normal after flowering. Hopefully there are some babes that are yet to bloom.

I'm not at all sure Meanie but I know you are more of an expert than me , I'll have a search & find session for any babes ....
BTW do you cut the brown leaves off ???
