Lovely colour......., come on spill the beans how are you getting such perfect pictures with their heads facing upwards ? a well placed prop or flat on the floor underneath lol.
I thought I'd clear round a few of mine yesterday OH is doing a lot of clearing in the wood dead trees and ones damaged by the winds, didn't want him treading on them, but would you believe the only one who did any damage was me!!!! grabbed a handful of leaves at the base of one and pulled off two flower buds just emerging, and it was a seedling I hadn't seen flower yet grrr.
I've only had seedlings from my oldest plant so far, which have been moved all over the wood, but noticed loads this year round the base of others too, exciting :-))

Thanks girls , Sandra give it another chance ,it will cry :o(
Kathy you have twigged my methods Ha Ha , no I definitely didn't lay on the ground, my hip is inflamed and wouldn't let me ,I'm having a cortisone injection in it tomorrow , I propped the flower head up against the other buds next to it for support :o) Kathy treading on plants when I'm trying to be careful is something I'm guilty of I've already trodden on Daffs emerging through the grass ,shame about your Hellebore you will have loads when they mature they will look a picture in your wood another year :o))
Thanks Holly ,I'm glad you like it ☺

Oooo sounds painful Amy hope the injection helps, would be a bit of a muddy job laying on the ground lol, oh yes I'm the same me and my big feet always say to OH I know where every plant is in this garden till I tread on one lol.
Can't wait to move more of those hellebore seedlings about, the snowdrops are starting to look a picture now, this year its split and divide more clumps, try to do a few a year after flowering, they've really started clumping up now, planting all those bare root bulbs on a freezing cold day several years ago seems worthwhile now.
The winter aconites you sent have bulked up too and I've even spotted a few seedlings ;-)

I'll look out for seedlings from this when the time comes Kathy , Yes all that hard work is worth it in the end ,I'm pleased the winter Aconites have come good for you , I'm about to put a photo on of some of mine the sun has made them open up beautifully ,they look gorgeous and have spread so much both in the bed and onto the gravel path :o)

This is one of my favourites, and usually out by now!! but this year they are hating all the wet, the soil is heavy where most of our Hellebores are planted, normally not a problem!, so yet again I will enjoy looking at your lovely photos, perhaps if and when it stops raining!!! ours might flower in the summer ha ha....
Sorry to read about your hip problems, must be very difficult and painful for you, hope the injection helps..x
6 Feb, 2014
Thanks Janey , /Angela It's to soon for me to tell if the injection has worked in my hip it's better where they injected but still hurts in another place ,I'm wondering if there is inflammation in more than one spot , time will tell ! It's disappointing for you Angela when the weather goes against all your best efforts it's not too late they may surprise you yet , I hope so ...

That's a true stunner Amy, found one similar in my shade-border this morning, which I had forgotten about, having planted it behind a Rhodo! so I dug it up, and put it a large pot, and put it on the patio where I can see it better! I also discovered a hybrid-cross I made a few years back, flowering for the first time; it was a white with crimson speckles, crossed with a very deep red hybrid. It has not fully opened yet, but seems to have the same speckles, with petals flushed with pink.

Thanks David , I'm pleased you found and rescued yours I've noticed a couple growing under shrubs you forget they're there and then the shrubs grow bigger hiding them ,I very much like the sound of your new one I hadn't thought of crossing them I should give it a go ! I'll look out for your photo it would be amazing if it was something completely new in colour ... :o)
