Lovely back-drop to them, which really makes them stand out. Nice!

Thank all....the beauty of growing them in a pot Karen, you can tuck them up with something that really does show them off

She's lovely ... I have grown some for the first time ... dwarf Iris all in pots ... now you've made me think I should dot them around the flower borders ... :o)

Now THAT is an excellent photo!

A good idea Shirley - choose something evergreen that makes them stand out. I do that with many of the bulbs I grow in pots - I find you can appreciate the flowers better.
Cheers Mouldy :)

Thanks Angie ... this morning one was about to open ... just gone outdoors to put the brown garden bin out for collection and noticed the Iris has opened ... lovely!

They also look good underplanted in Ophopogon (?) the black grass. Those should be out next week.

I have a small clump of Ophiopogon ... but noticed today some of the leaves are looking decidedly brown! Not sure if that's a problem with it?

I'm not sure what could be wrong either, maybe just not looking it's best? I'll have a look at mine tomorrow and see if those are similar.

Googled 'leaves turning brown on Ophiopogon' and apparently the older leaves tend to turn brown and should be removed ... sounds like a pair of scissors needed then!

The clump you sent me, last year, Shirley, looks ok, so far, but I'll keep an eye on it just in case.
It sits alongside the clump of red grass you sent me, Scottish and both are planted in the whatsit.

Checked mine today and it's looking ok but then it's been very dry and mild up here so maybe not the best reflection of how it would generally look in winter.
Bet the black and red look nice together - will be looking forward to seeing that Mouldy.

Pleased to hear it's thriving Mouldy ... I have some Stipa grasses if you would like a couple ... Google images of Stipa tenuissima (Mexican Feather Grass) to get an idea of what I'm talking about! They have been outdoors since last Summer, seem quite hardy.

Lovely.......really attractive...

Can't wait to have these, if only I could remember so many of the spring bulb's names. Angie, you know them all!

22 Feb, 2014

Posy, it's not that I remember them all - I painstakingly list them all on here! That way there is no forgetting ;)
