Hi Marybells, We had to do a 'split level' to take out the slope towards the house. I can't lie, my bricklaying ability is not existent! We paid two lads to follow our design, they did the walls and patio(s). I did the rest with the help of an electrician, to do the lights. Thanks for taking a look and commenting.

You have a lovely garden Alan, I like the design and have to admit to a feeling of envy at your immaculate lawns, the joys of having dogs means the lawns suffer quite a bit, our wall around our patio used to be double and full of plants, we changed it a couple of years ago and put the railings and gate in when we had new french doors put in, another one down to the dogs as they had run into the patio windows on a number of occasions and we didn't want anymore accidents..
The little lanterns each side of your steps are like the set of three that we have near our fishpond...

Lincslass, thank you so much for your nice comments. How coincidental is this, we put an order in YESTERDAY, for new patio doors, changing from and old wooden heavy sliding patio door. The doors are going to open out onto a patio, so we don't have to make any changes to the garden design apart from a slight adjustment to the outside step. You commented about the lawns, they are even better this year, as being recently retired I have been able to feed them. I have also acquired a small push lawn mower which gives a much better cut, I have also left the grass just a little longer, in case of dry spells. Wishing you happy gardening. <]:~))

Ran in to the windows eh? Labradors......lol! Poor Willow fell over her own legs several times today...and she ran full pelt into my knee cap. Goodness knows how many times she's hit her head on the garden table, coffee table, kitchen table....poor thing...no wonder she has no sense!

I need to feed mine really Alan, it hasn't been done since we had Brynner as he is susceptible to skin complaints so I'm not really sure about what to use but last year the clover started coming back and now its in danger of taking over..Our doors open outwards as well, the only thing is it took a while to get used to them as we were used to being able to have a full view of the garden with the sliding patio one..

Mmmmm, interesting, we did wonder about reduced view and obviously more framework.

Karen they are so comical when they reach the gangley leg stage and fall over their own feet, my niece in Yorkshire has a lovely black lab, think he's about 6mths now, he's in trouble today as he can now reach the worktops and has eaten 20 choc/chip cupcakes today that were cooling down, made for her nan's 80th birthday party which is tomorrow, she asked my daughters via facebook if we thought he'd be poorly, as you know both my girls have labs, they both laughed and said if he's anything like ours the answer is no. lol...

Still miss the complete view Alan but they are so much better and look far nicer....

Phew .... I am sure we'll be delighted with them. As far as feeding the lawn, I just picked up a large tub of Growmore at a good price and sprinkled some on. Obviously the clover may need a pre-treatment first to kill it.

Oops...my comment has disappeared, so apologies if this appears twice! What I wanted to say is.....Oh my word! all that home baking down the Labrador drain! Hope the puppy is indeed ok!

I'm really enjoying looking at your garden, love the wall, wish my brother lived near me but he is in Exeter Grrr! He is a builder but never has time to do much for us now but did a lot for us in the past, I would love him to build a wall like you have <}:o))

Your welcome.

Thanks Paul for the nice compliment. It’s nice to enjoy the garden. Being retired we can spend lots of time working in it, as you can imagine it takes quite a bit of time to keep it looking good.
