What a wildlife haven your garden is Alan

Thanks Meadowland and Angie. We know we are lucky, as I type away, a baby woody has just landed on the peanuts. They're nearly as big as the adults now. I nearly got a photo of a huge hedgehog the other day, but it ran off at a gallop, before I could get my camera.

A lovely picture Alan, we have then in the rockery border, the problem is they are so quick they have disappeared before I get my camera out, I was oing to ask you how your woodies are, pleased to hear they are thriving ;0)

Thanks Carole. Woodpeckers are fine and healthy, even the third chick that was struggling last week.

so very tiny and cute!

Ah, that is so lovely! The only mice I see here are in the traps in my loft...dead. :( as we are so close to the ripening Barley, they have started coming in again, which has ticked me off no end. I thought we had stopped them. But that's country life....sigh....

Thanks Jackie, some lovely photos on the Countryfile calendar this year. The results were announced on last Sundays programme. "Baby Field Mouse" didn't make it ... Oh well there is always next year.... lol

Linda, be careful you may finish up with a few more than you were hoping for .. lol

We have owls around too so they balance the numbers Alan.

7 Sep, 2014

Lucky you, I love to hear the owls at night. We also have bats to keep control of the mosquitoes, but the mosquito population always seem to survive.

Hi Alan there were lots of little insects flying about last night, but later on the bats came out to play. They eat thousands of insects don't they. I like bats. The ones here are pipistrel bats and look like little furry brown mice with black shiny wings.

Hi Lindak, I'm not sure what type of bats we have eating the mosquitoes. I'll try and do some research, as I would be very interested to know.
