How did you make the ice cream Angela ? we've been picking ours non stop also freezing some when we have too many in a day ,I made some ice cream from a recipe using evaporated milk it was delicious but sweet I'm wondering if I could use the same recipe using cream instead .....

Amy the recipe uses condensed milk!! and double cream, so it would still be sweet!! but quite a lot of strawberries, puree and chopped ones, delicious though, and no machine involved.

Every time my Willow gets let out of the run, she bolts over to the wildflower patch, launches herself in to the strawberry plants and tried to get them all before I can catch her...she's a maniac!

The strawberries this year have tasted so sweet. I've bought loads of them to eat. Home grown ones taste even better and your strawberries look super.

The weather has been perfect for strawberries this year.....nothing like a daft lab Karen!! We only have three plants in a small raised bed, but they have cropped so well.

just found a tiny strawberry plant at the back of one of the smaller beds, so will be interested in checking out the recipes for strwaberry ice cream, if there's any crop!

do the birds leave you many, or do you have netting or some other deterrent?

Fran the birds have never found them, they are so well disguised, no netting nothing, will try and photograph them for you, and see if you can find them lol

thanks, Daisy! the tiny plant the gardener found was at the back of a small bed, against the shed, with tall plants all round and over it. it had a couple of tiny berries on it, so maybe that was disguise enough

I am putting it on now...pot your little plant on, and let it grow Fran.
