Found this Monarch butterfly in the conservatory....

It was terrified, and so was I, because I was worried it would bat itself to death, it was so frightened, unfortunately I couldn't get a photo of it with its wings open, should have used my phone to video it!

Angela It looks like a stained glass window ,I thought it was ! wouldn't that be beautiful with the sun shining through the glass !

butterfly is quite rare over here, it was enormous, but so beautiful, as Amy remarked, like a stained glass window!;-)
Whilst we were looking around for something to use to assist its safe passage........it flew out of through the door, was I thankful:-D

The monarch is an endangered species now. I used to see them everywhere, but now I've only seen one or two this whole summer. That's why I'm growing some milkweed for them.

There's an excellent book that talks a lot about the amazing migration habits of Monarch butterflies, along with a 'relationship' story: "Flight Behaviour" by Barbara Kingsolver.

Not any butterflies here at the moment. Lovely that you have seen this beautiful one DD. Not seen many bees either.

never seen one of these in real life, they are absolutely beautiful not many butterflies about think it is too dry for them, had some but not as many as in other years.
