A great selfie Paul...! Hope you are enjoying the holiday season. Things are getting very busy here - Think Blue Spruce and Holly Door Wreaths for Christmas!!! Which also means working in freezing conditions with sore hands... :o(

Hello Paul its great to meet you , we are just starting to think about decorating and have only got as far as the outside lights ... we will start indoors soon ,we have an advent calendar hanging up with sweets in that's a must have :o)

Sounds like everybody is preparing well for the holidays. Yes, Sandra, that's me. After continuous requests for the "big reveal" I thought it was high time I showed myself - especially since others thought I was an old man with a foot in the grave. I'm glad you aren't too surprised.

Thanks Tracey - Nice to meet you too. I'm thinking about that giant tangle of Christmas lights up in my attic. Should I wrestle with it, or just buy new ones? I love the fragrance of a freshly cut spruce.

Same here Amy. Thanks for resurrecting my "Highline" blog. I got a wave of new pms about it since your comment. That may be pivotal to new job for me. Amazing how quickly the holidays are coming upon us. I can't believe Thanksgiving already came and went.

Hello ... It's nice to know who I'm talking to :)

Hey there Hywel, thanks. I feel good to finally show myself. I hope others follow suit. :)

There are a few photos of me on here already :)

Nice to see you Paul.
Gerry got the small Christmas tree and decorations from the shed yesterday and bought them in. We had to check to see if the fieldmice had chewed into the boxes, but they hadn't. They chewed off the bristles to the paintbrushes in the shed though, and I expect they are part of a mouse's nest somewhere. I usually put a nativity scene in the front window and light it with electrically lit nightlights. I hope to get to church before Christmas Day but will have to see how the knees respond.

At last I can put a face to the name. I'm not sure I'm brave enough to do the same! I hate my phot being taken, not being the least bit photogenic. I agree with Sandra you do look very much as I imagined you, isn't that strange? We plan to get our Christmas tree out later this week and begin the big trim up. I love this time of year. All we need to make it complete is a sprinkling of snow on Christmas day. Please note I said a sprinkling! !

Nice to meet you Paul.

Hywel: I have seen a couple of your pics and was inspired. Yes it great to put a face to the name.

Linda: I'll never forget when a field mouse got stuck in some fly paper in my kitchen during the night. He made such a ruckus banging dishes around as he struggled to get free. It was terrifying to hear this at 3am, not knowing what was rattling my cutlery. That's when I got Costello.

My church has also began to set up a life size nativity scene. Somebody has left an actual newborn baby in the manger and it was discovered by a custodial worker one morning.

Julia - I have an idea of what you look like from your blogs. I think you should go ahead and show the world your face. I find it a big relief and all the "to do" was "much ado about nothing."

Hi Siris: Thank you!

I will try and persuade Julia, when I meet her for lunch on Thursday,Paul..she will be so fed up of me pestering her,she will surely relent, just to shut me up..although that takes some doing,as she will confirm :o)

I am with Waddy just not brave enough lol I did do it once on another forum and then took off after 20 mins so good on yer Paul.

Just the fir tree outside to do with white lights and my goddaughter to turn them on, she gets so exited its turned into a Christmas tradition minced pies and mulled wine, well she thinks its mulled wine we haven't told her's is warm blackcurrant juice lol

Plus the holly wreath for the front doors its the only time of the year they get a trim , I have had to cover one with netting to stop the birds eating the berries then can have them back after the festive season is over.

My small claim to fame I helped out on thanksgiving day dinner for Tammy Wynette , she was really nice as well.....
she made a mean "Corn Sauce".

That would be great Sandra. One day I hope to be sitting at your lunch table.

Gg - I've made wreaths from juniper branches with the blue berries. They are soft and pliable & very easy to work with. They look especially nice with silver ribbons and serve double duty as an air freshener.

My face inspired you ??? lol !!! :D
I hate having my photo taken. I am very self conscious and hate being seen :(

I meant the fact that you showed yourself motivated me to do same, others as well. At first I didn't see much point being in another hemisphere.

Did the baby get reunited with it's mother or get fostered out for adoption?
I loved the mouse story. When we lived down the road our Siamese was always catching shrews and mice. One day when the cat bought one indoors and started to play with it, the mouse ran behind the back of the bookcase where the cat couldn't get it. We had to move the bookcase to catch the mouse and release it back outside. Another time I went to put my gardening shoes on in the porch and found difficulty putting my foot into one of them. I took the shoe off to look inside, and there was a little mouse, so I released it outside only for the cat to catch it again.

Paul, it would be fantastic if you were ever able to join Sandra and I for lunch and maybe a few other GoY members, wouldn't that be something?

2 Dec, 2015

P's. Not sure how good Sandra's powers of persuasion are lol!

Don't worry,Julia,some you win ,some you lose..:o)

Hello Bathgate, lovely to see you!

4 Dec, 2015

Hi Janey, Thank you! I'm glad I finally got the nerve up to show myself. I can now breathe a sigh of relief and it never was a big deal anyway - only in my head.. :) I hope you are enjoying the holidays.

Linda, when I found that vermin mouse wrapped in fly paper at 3 am in my kitchen, I took him out to the garden and quickly 'dispatched' and buried him in my iris border. They did bloom quite vigorously the following spring. :)

5 Dec, 2015

Well it's the UK here Bathgate and we don't have our holidays till a couple of days before Xmas and then just a handful of days if your lucky! Lovely for the children though, and that's what it's all about isn't it.....:)).

Bathgate:

It's a good thing you posted a photo of yourself...because we don't want to think you're an old lady when you're a man. LOL! (I never thought you were an old lady).
