Cones painting day

 Cones painting day

Could not go outside because of the heavy snowfall so painted few cones. I have a good collection of cones for Christmas decorations.

It's great doing this. I always used to do it. Maybe I'll start again next year ...

Hywel, when I walk in the forest, I collect cones and when I walk on the beach I collect pretty stones and shells. When we come home from holidays my suitcase is full of rocks (mainly). Apparently I am obsessed.

We used to do the same, but now that Beryl is in a wheelchair we can't go for walks on the beach or in woods any more.
I suppose I could go on my own, but there's no fun in that.
I am hoping to find some cones along the roads :)

My best to both of you Hywel. We used to do much more activities in our younger years too. We all have to adapt as we age. And we do. That is just how "things are".

True.

Love a pine cone Klahabie. I walked around a park looking for some the other day and found none...then I took my dads dog out for a walk and came across the most amazing long thin cones. Just need to get some paint now...

Never painted cones, but I do collect stones from beaches!

Thank you Sandra. Cones and Christmas just go together.

Sheila, I have some amazing stones from Mexican beaches. Some I have displayed in the trays and some I put in the pots and some are still in the bags in the closet waiting to see a day light.

Klahanie - I guess you have to think about the weight of the stones when flying back from Mexico?! I have some colourful ones from Cornwall, and small ones from Portugal.

Sheila, I have the luxury to bring as much as I want because we drive to Mexico. We do not fly. Although, I am very respectful of what I can or cannot bring back. Sometimes I am tempted to bring plants or seeds.....but I never actually do.

Love collecting stones too..our local beach has lots of pebbles with holes in them..I like to find ones small enough to go on key chains ..

12 Dec, 2016

I like that idea, Sandra. I have never seen small rocks with holes.

That must be quite a spectacular drive, Klahanie . . . how long does it take?

12 Dec, 2016

If we drive straight down (no visits with friends and no sightseeing) it takes 5 hotel overnights Sheila.

I collect stones with holes in them from the beach and thread and hang them on wires from tree branches etc. it's suppose to bring good luck ,here's hoping :o)

I used to be a bit of a magpie with stones, shells & cones, I sometimes find oddities in my garden too. Some stone so smooth they feel polished, some show the different coloured layers & others with holes through. Big ones, more like rocks really, edge the raised garden border.
I don't paint the cones as I like them 'au naturelle'.
