Hellebore flowering well in my back garden.

Hellebore flowering well in my back garden.

This is growing in a pot in my back garden. I have a similar hellebore planted in a front garden bed, which is flowering equally well [ picture of that one on my recent blog ] so it seems no difference for results, whether in a container or directly in the ground.

Thank you everyone ...
hellebores seem to perform better and better each year.

Lovely TT. It is a pretty colour combo. Having it in a pot makes it much easier to see. I find some hellebores hang their exquisite heads but like the snowdrops you would need to get down to ground level to see them properly. Knowing they will succeed in pots is the kind of information I really appreciate. Is it a big pot? or do you intend to plant it in the garden when has finished flowering?.

Oh Terra, that is a beautiful one.
I like them more as each year goes by.

Thanks Scotsgran ...
The pot is about 9 inches high and 10 inches across. The hellebore has been in the same pot for several years.
I plan to keep that one in its pot.

Hi Wildrose... thank you ...
The hellebores provide welcome beauty at this time of year, don't they !

Terratoonie:

Those are some beautiful flowers! It's very nice to have many flowering plants, trees in winter, right?

Everything is growing and flowering like crazy here in San Diego. It's due to all the rain we're receiving this season. It looks like our severe 6 year drought will be over this year. YAY!!!

very beautiful , Terra :-)

Good luck, Scotsgran with growing some of your Hellebores in containers.

Hi Delonix .. thanks... the hellebores are very welcome in the dark of February.
I'm glad San Diego has plenty of rain to chase away the drought years !!!

Hello Junna... thank you...

So beautiful. Now I'm going to grow some in pots. I will try & find types that have their blooms more erect like this one. Gorgeous colour.

Yes, the very heavy rains are making up for all those years of drought in most of the state, with severe flooding and a record snow pack of up to 50 ft (15 m) high in the Sierra Mountains. We can't do anything small in California! LOL!

Hi Feverfew .. thank you ...
I imagined everyone had some of their hellebores growing in pots .. for me, that just happened by accident because the hellebores were a present from a good friend, and, when delivered, I wasn't sure where to plant them, so some went into pots, and then I noticed they were doing really well ... seemed to like being in containers !
Good luck with yours.

Hi Delonix ...
loads of rain in the UK today ...
... would you like some of ours ?

A really lovely colour and a strong looking plant TT ... The info regards growing them in a pot is useful It means I could have some near the kitchen window and then move them later when it gets too hot there.

This is an absolutely bootiful one! ;o)

That's absolutely beautiful! I have one or two both in the garden and in pots and the garden ones are much further on. None as lovely as yours though.

Thank you Waddy ..
hellebores have such pretty flowers, don't they.

25 Feb, 2017

Yes, but what shame they hide them by hanging down.

Terratoonie:

Thanks for offering your rain! lol! I wish we would could get some rain in summer!

We're having a big storm today with lots of tropical rains and high winds moving up from south of Baja Mexico. Maybe 2 - 4 inches of rain today. That's a tremendous amount of rain for us. It's very good for our drought, though.
