Jude the not so obscure!

And it is withstanding the wind and rain this year. I love it, the scent is pure apricot, and a freebie years ago from T&M..:))

Wow, I love Austin roses, but could never understand their naming such a beautiful rose after such a horrendously miserable book, I was sorry I read it!:-)

Thank you Dd and Sheila, the scent is fabulous..:))

It is Meadow and huge blooms this year, then it fades to cream..

Thanks Amy, it can be top heavy though, as I think lots of Austen roses can be, so can tend to look downwards.

Thanks Dawn and Ba, well I haven't read it Ba, I wonder why they would? Maybe it was about unrequited love.. Going to look it up now, it is a puzzle..

Ashridge nurseries can't understand it either Ba, why anyone would choose the name of such a worn down deadbeat character from Thomas Hardys novel!

This gorgeous Rose is anything but obscure..

What a beauty,Janey, and on reading where the name came from,it deserves much better than that ! How very strange for someone to decide it should be so named..I think I would call it something more fitting .:o) x

Hi Sandra, how are you? Yes, very odd really, and the rose looks to be very feminine. I've always called my sister Judy, Jude...and she's certainly not obscure, so it is named for her..:))

What a delicate color. Here we call it "rosa chá" (tea rose). Yours are very pretty.

Hi Aleyna, yes, we used to have hybrid teas here too, I haven't heard that term for a while. Thank you, I love it..:))

I'm well, thank you Janey, and I hope you are too. That's a lovely thing to do,and I'm sure your sister was happy to be compared in name to a beautiful Rose. :o) x

"what's in a name?... a rose by any other name would smell as sweet!" Jude is gorgeous! it has the blowsy fullness of a "cabbage" rose... big, sweet and a great colour.

Haha Lori, yes exactly! That's right, cabbage roses, and she's not minding the rain at all..
