Great idea Charlie727, but I don't have the patience for that. I love to eat these, and it has become quite a joke among my friends. They tell the story every summer of the time a whole car load of us girls where driving to the beach for the day and I made a U turn on the highway because I saw a man selling orange fleshed watermelons along the side of the road. The orange ones are the sweetest in my opinion!
I once bought one from a man at a farmers market while on my way to court with a friend and it was too hot to leave in the car so I carried a watermelon into court! lol I'm sure I looked ridicilous!

I'm gonna have to find some seeds from those little watermelons. I would love to try one. That orange flesh watermelon sounds good too. I never heard of it. That baby watermelon looks happy!

My Brother has also blagged the idea from JO and his summer bbq treat is to do different flavoured vodka watermelons. The fave is Blackcurrant Vodka watermelon. Mmmm, I wish it was summer - with the sun shining!!!

Blackcurrant flavor sounds interesting.
Something that you all in UK may not know about US but we have very little blackcurrant flavored foods, over here for candies etc. they use grape flavoring instead.
Concord grapes grow so well in US and black currants are rare! Just thought it interesting.
I sometimes buy McVitties biscuits with black currants from the import store for tea, I can remember having them when I lived there. YUM!

What a good Idea

I grow red currants... are the black currants as tart? Love your little watermelon...if I ever get a green house, I will have to try these...our summers are way to short and cool here to be able to grow one of these...we can barely grow a tomatoe.

Currants don't do well here so are not readily available. I love watermelons but have never had good luck with them. Even this year I only got 4 very small but very sweet fruits. I have had much better luck with other things, and my freezer is filled with lots of stuff to last until next years crop. Not sure if I will try watermelons next year or not.
