Thanks Paul ... I was sitting in the car with a coffee when four or five of them appeared. There is lots of woodland in that area ... perfect for them!

Beautiful!

Yes, great photo. I haven’t seen one all winter & the many green finches that we used to have, they have disappeared also. What has happened to them? So sad if their numbers are decreasing.

What a beautiful bird Shirley! We get a pair of these chaffinches in the garden every day.

Lovely to see, Shirley. We get a pair of bullfinches, I feel very fortunate!

Janey, there were so many of them too! I'm pretty sure I have never seen a Chaffinch in our garden.

Josie, now that's strange as Greenfinches come to the feeders most days here. Sunflower hearts are the attraction.

Rose, how lovely for you. I was chuffed to see a pair of Collared Doves drinking from the bird bath we re-sited at the weekend ... love them!

Kate, Bullfinches eh? Another bird I have yet to see. It seems they are an 'Amber' species on the conservation list as their numbers have decreased, shame.

Kate, you are very lucky to have the bull finches. Such attractive birds especially the male.
Shirley, I’m glad you are getting the green finches, that means they are still around. Perhaps they change areas.
I have only had one song thrush in the garden so far this winter. The G S Wood peckers come everyday though, so a bonus.

Josie, in the twenty or so years we have lived here, just one sighting of a Song thrush. How special to have Woodpeckers visiting your garden.

Lovely to see, we don't see them here very often. At the moment it's Blackbirds, a Grey Wagtail, a murmuration of Starlings, Woodpigeons, Seagulls, Crows, Sparrows, Robin, and yesterday flying low over the bungalow were two Buzzards.

Grey wagtail, one of my favourite birds. I see them along a nearby river( The Wey).

The grey wagtail spends a lot of his day in our garden Feverfew. He loves mealworms.
