Jersey Tiger Moth

Seen today on our dining room window ... spectacular we thought!

Inevitably we got the reflection of the front garden, my hand, and the inside of the dining room - like a montage!

Lovely to see. We found one or two different moths in the folds of our large outside umbrella hiding for the daytime.

Thanks Sandra and Janey - new to me too. It must be tricky for him to blend with his surroundings.

A good day for wildlife … an adult wren in the garden for the first time for years, and then saw her baby (about the size of a harvest mouse). What a treat!

Fantastic capture there, Sheila! Lovely and clear too. You must've been really pleased it visited yesterday!!
I saw a moth on my rockery the other day. I thought it was a greyish leaf at first. It had a devilish looking face on its back too, eerie. I touched it softly but realised it wasn't a leaf!

Thanks Kate. It’s always interesting to have the chance of a really good look at a moth, isn’t it.

Yes, not such calm weather today … hoping the baby wren is OK!

That’s a super photo Sheila, one to keep. I’ve been lucky with butterflies lately. Lots of Red Admirals around, & Peacocks, also Holly blues & 1or2 others. Lovely to see them on the Buddleia. Last year was disappointing, hardly any.

Thanks Josee.

Isn't that just beautiful? First time I have seen or heard of these Moths. I was watering the manger baskets one evening when a rather large Moth flew out from within ... it certainly made me jump!

Thanks Shirley. Moths are always trying to hide from us … not always successfully!

Ha, ha!

A couple of nights ago there were moths and one or two dragonflies around and the bats were eating them.
