Thanks Janey … I just love it! Maybe yours will thicken up in a week or so. x
Thanks for liking, Hywel 🙂.

It’s a great plant. The winter stems with their zig-zag shapes, the blossoms and then the wonderful autumn colours. A real winner!

It is Karen 🙂.

Thanks Kate, it’s certainly making me smile!

I saw some pretty examples of this lovely shrub at Nymans gardens yesterday.

I hope they were affordable Shirley. I’ve seen some locally priced at 29.99! Is Nymans the one where John Brookes lived?

Plants are very expensive now. I’m certain they hav3 rocketed in price in the last 20 years. Is it because gardening is very popular now? Or is it Brexit? Or something else? Perhaps it’s just me getting old! lol!

I think it depends on the nursery Karen. One locally buys everything in, so they’re pricey, but the ones that grow their own are more affordable.

I had a look at Bluebell nursery where I buy a lot of my trees. This, in a 4L pot, about 80cm high, is £67.50 reduced from £75! It always pays to shop around. Speaking of which..Have you all seen this blog? It’s free to subscribe and well worth it for this regular savings briefing. https://plantaholics.substack.com/p/the-garden-savings-edition-thursday-927?utm_campaign=email-post&r=reloa&utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email
I’ll put this into a blog so more friends will see it.

Sheila, the ones I photographed were only planted last year and I didn't see any for sale.
You're thinking of Denmans Gardens for John Brookes. I haven't visited there for ages and it's only a short drive from here!

Shirley, thanks. As soon as I’d written, I thought “I bet I mean Denmans”. I always manage to confuse the two!

My favourite late winter Prunus Sheila and it's looking very well. Mine too is in flower, though not so many blossoms as in previous years.
