The larger building is my 'workshop' ; the roofless bit I intend/hope to turn into a greenhouse.

Jacque,
That's what my wife has been saying for two years.
Joking apart, the house is built into a granite hillside ( the cellar is actually hewn out of the rock) and I've had to carve many of the steps from the bedrock before facing them with boulders.
I'll post a photo of a path and wall I've buil tto give an idea of the work.

Jacques,
Sorry, but that's not the mill; the buildings are just outbuidings. The mill is behind me. All the stone is granite but the evening sun gives it a light texture; it's actually grey and I've used a lime/sand mix as "joint".
The steps and path are just boulders selected for a reasonably flat face. We have enough on our land to surface the M25. I'm building dry stone walls, rockeries, etc. The 'table' under the tree in my "January Morning" photo and those in the stream can give you an idea of the range in size.

Yes, I'll put some on. However the mill wheel has long gone and the mill race now goes underground next to the house. Not my doing, I might add.
However we are in the process of excavating parts of the original mill race and hope?? to get it open in the future, although the garden is my next priority. I'll dig up some photos of our progress but there is a lot of work involved. It was allowed to fall into ruin for over 100 years
The original 17th C channel was made up of solid granite blocks cut, by hand, into U shapes and fitted together; I marvel at the amount of time it must have taken and also have a vision of the final few chisel blows and, "Whoops Sorry" .
Where the race re-joined the main stream they hollowed out a 10M tunnel through solid rock.
Again I'll dig out the photos.
