Ff......I don't think that Ted would be able to get to it, it's hidden in the Clematis, and I think by the time he's sussed it all out the babies will have fledged....Lol!
Skippy........it's the same here, and we have lots of Sparrows which over the last few years have been dwindling in numbers. Pleased you like my pic..thanks for the lovely comment.....:o)
Thanks..Tg!

today the doves came down and she was sat quite close to them, she just looks then lays back down,, dont think she can be bothered, just lazy lol

Very wise she is too! Teddy has yet to learn that the birds keep an eye on him right till the last moment when they take to the air...ha.ha!

What a super photo Janey, I am sure Teddy is only looking for the Magpies
2 May, 2009
Hope Teddy's not about when the little blackbirds leave the nest! My dogs, when much younger, were as bad as cats for chasing birds :(
2 May, 2009
Thanks Deida...:o)
I'll have to watch him then Gee, he'll have to spend some time indoors when they're in the garden as they make such a loud chirrup don't they? Fancy your dogs chasing birds, I haven't heard that before....:o)

Chloe (and Mungo) is a cross between a Jack Russel and a Dachshund so have very strong hunting instincts, typical terrier in fact! Their motto - 'if it moves, chase it' !!

Lovely shot. Teddy is so mesmerized! Thos birds should be safe. He'll just keep posing around the garden for these great pics. :-)

A lovely pic.of Teddy Janey .. he,s so sweet , naughty but nice.. LOL
I hope he dosn,t sus out how to reach the nest , we have a Blackbirds nest with 5 eggs in it which have been cold for days it,s the second batch in the same nest it,s a shame .
Our old cat Marmy dosn,t take any notice of the birds but we have a lot of strays that take short cuts through the garden , there was one creeping along the top of the summer house yesterday and i,m sure there is a Robins nest in the roof tiles behind it ..

Helloo Tedward - what them naughty birdies doin' up there, huh? Birtie is in much the same state - what with Mr and Mrs Duck strutting around like they own the place and the blackbirds shouting at her from the top of the garage everytime she goes outside. She's decided that her catnip mouse is much more convenient :-)

Teddy is merely admiring the plants.... :o)

AAaaaaaaaaw Teddy looks a rite Picture sat there Janey :) Iv 2 stop feeding my Garden Birds Now :(As My Febe has started to Catch&Kill them over the last few days :(
7 May, 2009
Jac - have you tried keeping Febe in during the first part of the morning and bringing her in at night? Also a collar with a bell might help. I've only ever had two cats, so I'm not sure, but neither of them have been big hunters and I wonder if it's because I've always played lots of games with them and made sure they've lots of toys? I think hunting birds is just a fun game and if we play with cats and work the energy out of them that way, they seem less inclined to go after birds. Glad to say, Birtie does not seem too interested in the birds - she'll even sit at an open window and watch them and not bother going out. Playing games with Mum is much more fun! lol

Yes collars with bells on...my two have them, I think Teddy is really too lazy to actually get the birds, mind you he spent ages climbing up onto the pub roof as two doves were picking around in the gutter, and eventually tiptoed his way towards them, in full view of course, then they just glided down into the garden, I'm sure they tittered as they flew down.......:o)

Amy.......that's the trouble, other cats that don't belong to you use your garden too, hope the blackbirds will be able to get some chicks hatched though!

Hi Sarah/Janey il give keeping Febe in ago Sarah ,I do play with her lots & shes had collars with bells in the Past but loses them in a wk :( shes a climber 2u se so godoness knows where she loses them ? She use to be a house cat when she was a kitten cos i lived in a Massonet so i had no garden only a small Balcony which her & Sox were`nt aloud on due to me being high up ,So im wondering if that why she likes them so much now?

It's natural tho Jacque for them to stalk and catch their prey though isn't it? Little lions all of them!! Lol. I reckon girls are the best at catching them....it's just us humans who are the softies........... I'm reading 2 funny cat books at the mo...written by a tabby cat (Lol) Alice's Diary and Alice's Adventures....so funny to read things from a cat point of view....like "can't believe the uprights have planted a rosebush right in the middle of my lavatory area.......how would they like one in theirs!" He..he....

Jac - yes, Birtie loses her collars too....tsk. I've only ever re-found one of them and it was hung up in the top of a hedge - goodness knows how it ended up up there?! But at least these safety collars work and come off if they get caught. Birtie climbs too - mostly I think for show lol - Oooo look at Me!!! I'm higher than You!!! Bet You can do This!!! tut.

12 May, 2009
