Stipa tennuisima with Sea Holly

Stipa tennuisima with Sea Holly (Eryngium variifolium)

In discussion about grasses on someone elses blog, I mentioned to Stickitoffee this combination, so I thought I'd dig out a photo from a couple of years ago.I love the way the stipa Tennuisima(Pony Tails) blows around and also catches the light.Personally I think it combines well with the hard, structural form of this Sea Holly (Eryngium Planum) Sorry pic is not particularly sharp!

Gorgeous plant combinations, very effective

Wow, I really love this! What a gorgeous combination, I'm going to provide something similar in my garden. I'm thinking of having some spots with different colour palettes, and yellows, oranges, reds will be one of them. I say spots because my garden is not that big.
Stipa Tennuissima is in my list!

I love yellow ,blue(or mauves) and white in combination!
I've heard TV Gardeners saying that S.Tennuissima is untidy, but I love it.Lots of movement and looks great in the sunshine!!!

Lovely combination Paul, I love Stipa Tennuissima too great plant I wouldn't be without, it seeds prolificly here too don't know about yours so always lots of plants to move around :-)
I have a potentilla 'Monarchs Velvet' growing with one of mine great combination the dark red flowers scramble about and the odd few grow through it, purely accidental mind, lol.
