Pernaculture

Some friends and I spent halloween weekend camping (yes I know there was practically a hurricane!) and working in a permaculture woodland garden at an organic farm near Lancaster. The farm’s owner, Dr Rod Everett is highly regarded in the permaculture world and runs courses on the subject. His farm is off-grid, has wind turbines, solar panels and its own water supply. It was a fascinating weekend and I learned a bit about permaculture which involves mainly permanent planting rather than annual crops but also encompasses sustainable living in general. Its a subject I intend to study more closely.

The living? roof on the house looks as if it would keep it very snug.
