Hi all.....in early Autumn I planted up pots of Spring bulbs including Snakes Head Lilies and popped them under the staging in the greenhouse. Do you think that is the right place for them till they begin to sprout or should I put them outside?

i have done both. the ones in the greenhouse were about 2 weeks earlier to flower, which was fine until frosts nipped them. I would be inclined to put them outside perhaps in the lea of the greenhouse so they get some shelter. I dont keep hardy bulbs in the greenhouse now. just the summer frost tolerant ones.

You do need to avoid the pots getting frozen though. Bulbs are ok with cold, but definitely do not like to be frozen solid. I suppose it all depends on if the greenhouse is heated or not. Mine is not and actually is open to the weather as there is no glass in the doors at either end. It is stuffed full of bulbs in pots, never had any trouble with them.

Thanks Jacque....Sbgirl and Owdboggy........well as we have just got a heater for the greenhouse, I think outside of it will be better....then thinking about the pots freezing, we have an under cover area which is open at the front, I think this will be ideal for them. Also the pots are attractive, so will be able to see them here....:o) Thanks once again.
