A visit to Dewstow Hidden Gardens and Grottoes

Today I went to the above gardens with my floral group. This is a site near the Severn Bridge in Monmouthshire. It consists of some interesting water gardens and some grottoes which have been recently restored over the last few years, having been buried during the last war.
We started from the lawns
through the paths
past the peonies
We passed a dry area with wonderful alliums
We met a family of ducks on the duckpond
and a yucca in bud
and a beautiful bluish green hosta
we saw a pieris with dark red leaves
a fern with a double fringe
The grottoes are fascinating, filled with unusual ferns.
pretty fountains
and a lovely fuchsia
This is well worth a visit – for children too! Details on the internet.
