water pump

Hubby had gone for a lie down and as i can n ever sit still decided to clean the water feature out. It’s heavy concrete and has loads of pebbles in it which i decided to clean. One by one i cleaned them all and when i got to the concrete bowl i went to move it away from the pump and it broke clear in half.Oh no (or words to that effect) what shall i do now! I know, I’ll use the pump as a feature on its own in the border. But then i thought as there is still an electric pump going spare i should be using this as well. So, thinking cap on….I looked in all the different sheds and found a concrete planter with no holes in it.All i have to do now is move it to the part of the border where i wanted it.Me being me had to put it in the most difficult part as i had to lift it over the box hedge. I walked it round the garden including going up a hill so as to get around the hedge. If hubby was to see me now he would have had a fit.Sucess, I actually got it to where it had to be but then had still to lift it up into the border.Put your mind into your arms ( i thought) and managed it. All i had to do now was to get the cleaned pebbles back in and had to keep checking the electric pump to make sure it was working properly and not throwing water over the edge. To make sure the water stayed in the bowl, the next thing i did was to put this silly duck in. It works! And the moral is …next time you have nothing to do..do nothing!

Well done you for sorting it out in the end, I'm forever getting in trouble for trying to sort something out!!

I have a small (1/2 size) sack barrow that I use for moving bags of compost and pots and anything heavy around the garden, It folds up small enough to go into the boot of the car or into a cupboard out of the way when not in use

It looks lovely - well done! Glad OH didn't spy you lifting, you could have been in much trouble, mind the back, bend knees etc. oh and do not forget to warm the muscles up first lol, says she who never remembers and then pays the price hard with cramps all night.

Thanks stickie . I can't resist , I always have to do a difficult job instead of doing the sensible thing and leaving well alone. We also have a sack barrow Vabascum but that would be too easy! Thanks olive for the good advice which I probably won't follow!

I can't help myself either and i always seem to find the most complicated way of doing things! Worse than that I will never ask for help - especially when I should.

Why take my advice Rose, I don't take my own advice either. lol. :o) got cramp already tonight.

Sounds like we are our own worst enemies you two!

:o) lol only had to get up once in the night with cramp. Yay!! Must be getting fitter, or should that be fatter!

Really good new motto Rose - but if you'd followed it you wouldn't have had you refurbished water feature. Well done you!

Thanks Steragram,I don't suppose i would ever follow that advice. If there's an easy way to do a job and a hard way ,guess which one i would do !

Well done! You had a tenacious grip on that job, hard worker that you are! Nothing phases you, Rose, does it! And you weren't to know the bowl had split in half, but now you have a good job finished, and it looks well too!

Thanks Elizabeth and it's nice to see you back on goy.Hope your computer is ok now.

Thank you Rose! I've just borrowed Keith's dongle for a little while!

23 Jul, 2011

I had to think what on earth was a dongle. I am new to the computer and still learning . When i asked Hubby,(he is definitely not into computers)he said it must be "that thing you sow seeds with" meaning the seed feeder!

You worked hard to accomplish your task....but it's paid off with a new-to-you water feature :) Good for you to not lose heart when the bowl broke and you found a good alternative way to make do and mend.

Ho! I'm sorry Rose! It's a wee gizmo that let's you go on to the internet through a mobile phone signal! (think?) Your hubby's answer sounds much more useful! Although it would be hard to get on to the internet with a seed feeder! Lol! Oh! that made me chortle! Lol!

Thanks whistonlass for those kind words. You know Elizabeth , I've just come off the phone with my son ( the designer) and should have told him what Hubby said.He would have had a good old laugh at that. You learn something new every day!

24 Jul, 2011

Oh, definitely do! He'll love it! Your poor hubby is going to feel we're picking on him, but he's just given me the best giggle...and it's only fair to pass it on! It's nice to give someone a smile!!

It sure is Elizabeth ,but i have a sneaky feeling that i may move the water pump again! I keep thinking that i should have stood the bowl and electric pump on the shelf of the pond making it look like the pump is pouring water into the pond,( here we go again.) Watch this space!

25 Jul, 2011

Lol! Och poor Rose! Ooops! That does sound right Rose, let's hope the bloomin' bowl stays in one piece this time! And seeing as you've already done it once...it'll be easy peasy this time! I'll be waiting with bated breath, good luck!

It's only an idea at this stage ,Elizabeth ,but I would also have to wait for hubby to go have a lie down again. As we haven't had very good weather lately, I haven't had the pump working much as it has been too cold to sit out.We had better weather in April!
