The July Garden

The garden is coming on in leaps and bounds! Some that have been doing well for a while and others that are catching up!
First of all, a while back I bought two wooden trellis panels which were to go on top of the fence where the clems are.
Unfortunately as my husband being disabled can’t help me, I thought I could do it myself!
Who was I kidding ! I couldn’t even lift them up in the air! So..after a lot of thought, I decided to use them as sides on my raised bed.
That worked a treat, but then, as the roof would have been too low to put another piece across, I decided to use some spare wood I had and make an arch roof, which I did, but standing on the top of a ladder with a battery screw driver in one hand , the screws and wood in the other was quite scary!
So I just carried on and wouldn’t let it beat me! At some point, I thought to myself, what am I doing at my age , almost 72 , I must be nuts ! Haha! I knew I couldn’t put all the wood up which was quite high, so decided to compromise with plastic netting. Job done! Very pleased with myself!
I also bought very light trellis for the fence which was much easier!

So I don’t bore you too much, I will just show you the garden as it is now..

Alstromeria Fire Works..I think that’s the name!

This is for Julia ..a present from the birds which appeared in the spring as small shoots! I am hoping one of you may know what it is!

Strange things happening in the garden as I didn’t plant this white rose!

This rose was on an obelisk , but as it is so vigorous , decided to make it into a shrub rose instead!

More roses…

Strawberry Hill

This should have come with the close up of the unknown plant! lol

I take my hat off to you Rose. You've done a fantastic job with that arch/trellis.
Your roses look amazing but I hope I'm wrong about the unknown plant...could it be Himalayan Balsam?

that is one mammoth task. well done. how strange re the white rose. has the white growth come from the roots of another rose that has been used as the root stock?

the mystery plant looks like a Salvia but o idea which one.

Beautiful roses and the mystery plant is very pretty and I agree with Seaburn, thinking it's a Salvia.
I have moved away from Roses and veering to Clematis after too many years having my arms ripped to pieces when trying to keep the roses under control.

Thank you Julia! When I am in the garden, I forget how old I am! lol
Thanks Waddy! I have other suggestions now of salvias!
The rose has no other roses near it Seaburn, so it remains a mystery!
Thanks so much Kate! When I walk through the arches, the perfume is breath taking!
It is a pity you don't live my side of Lincolnshire in Cleethorpes as you could come for a cuppa!
Thank you Yorkslass!
Thank you Honeysuckle! I invested in long arm garden gloves to save my arms, although I have been caught in the leg before! lol
Thank you Paul! My drill isn't as powerful as the big ones and sometimes have to finish putting the screws in by hand!

Oh Rose I do hope the other suggestions were right and I was wrong. Could you perhaps take a cutting to a local nursery just to be sure?

Hello Waddy! Do you remember my friend Libet who was on here a few years ago? Well, she is a landscape gardener and she always seems to know about any garden plants, so as we have always kept in touch, I have sent her a photo and should hopefully get the right answer! Will let you know!
